CAI & SRI vs K&N
Okay
I am looking to install a CAI or SRI or just a plane box K&N filter. What would be best thing to do? What would give me more hp? I am not worried about gas mileage because my last vehicle got about 15 miles/gallon.

Ok, I'll say it, do a search.
Anyway, CAI is best, SRI is second, and a drop-in would be last. I read a post on here some time ago that showed the K&N drop-in didn't improve airflow at all.

This is a common question asked by many beginning to do engine mods to thier lancer. I first had an rmr sri on my lancer but i just switched to and aem cai. The diffrences i have noticed are with the sri i noticed a definite gain in throttle response and hp at a lower rpm (about 2k-3.5k rpm's) and a much louder sound; my cai ive noticed a lot more gains at 3.5k and above and it seems that there is a slight bit more hp gained, though its not as loud. To get the full effect of an sri you need a vent in your hood to get cool air to the filter, otherwise you are getting more hot air from the engine bay which is less dense, therefore you dont get the full potential of a sri. So unless you have an aftermarked hood, or are planning on getting one, you wanna go for the cai since it sits behind the front bumper and gets plenty of cold air. Id say that if you are looking for the best performance and are looking into further engine upgrades go with the cai; if you want a louder, more show car intake go with the sri.
