Just Bought A Black Evo Yesterday

Finally after months of trying to get the right deal for the Evo, I bought one for the price i was looking for. I already put 300 miles on the car, of course break-in miles. Its so hard not to boost the car but I have not. I got couple questions,:

Whats the recommended break-in miles for the car? What do you guys recommended?

I seen on the forum, people complaining of a rattle noise coming for the two interior pillars, I hear actually too, Should I take to the dealer to fix it or is there an easy fix for it?

My last question is, When you are in first gear and you get on the gas a little bit, you hear a whinning sound coming for the tranny, is that normal?

Congrat on the EVO purchased, mind to tell us how much you paid for the car ?

As for the break-in, I went easy on the first 600 miles, no full throtle or full boost and also stay below 5000rpm. After 600 miles, I let the rpm goes up a little higher but still avoid full boost and full throttle until I changed the oil (and filter) at around 1000miles.

I believe the first gear whinning sound is normal as this is awd car.

Have fun

Thanks for the reply, before tax, the deal was $26800. All together $28538. It doesn't have a sunroof because I didn't want one due to extra weight. I will most likely be tracking the car probably at the end of this season or next season with EMRA and PDA. I have not gone above 5k rpm I mostly go up 4k. I am probably change the oil with Mobil One and filter.

Good deal!!! Yeah, I agree with everyone, don't rev high, don't hard shift, and be easy on the brakes too; the future will be much brighter for the car. Mobil One rules .

Congrats on your purchase! I waited until 1000 to break mine in and you need to do exactly that to break in your seals, set your brakes and what not. You will not believe the braking and handling not to mention the seat of your pants acceleration! The whining in first is normal too, its nothing bad just the awd.

Welcome aboard! Congrats on the purchase. Do some quick searches for your questions. I'm sure they've been answered many times before.

Also moving this to the Newbie Forum.

Thanks for the replies guys. I already have 400 miles on the car, I can going to wait till 1000 miles till I start getting into open throttle. Regarding the noise(rattle) near the passenger side air bag, I probably going to take to the dealer, let them figure it out.

I waited till 600. The engine is bomb proof, but go easy on the clutch and breaks. 5k of hard driving now and no problems.
