eBay intake

I bought this intake on ebay without really bothering to pay attention to the dimensions. I am trying to install it and I am thinking it either 1) doesn't fit at all or 2) I am going to have to relocate the battery to make it fit. Has anyopne else bought one of these? Was there fitment issues or am I completely retarded? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have an auto or 5spd? It's a Cold Air Intake and only for 5spds unless you do move your battery. Or so the experts on this forum say.

Even if you do move the battery, you'll have to manipulate the piping a bit to fit on an automatic. But it should fit a manual just fine.

i know this thread is pretty much dead, but 2 quick questions, and i didnt want to start a new one.
1. what size are the couplers for the ebay CAI? im guessing: 3" straight for 2 of them, and the one that comes off the MAS 3.5" reduced to 3"? correct me if im wrong.
2. on the first peice of piping, theres that hole where you connect the hose. ive seen on come lancers, that where the hose connect too, people have a breather air filter. i wanna do that to, but do i have to worry about that hole in the piping than?
thanks

Kind of depends on which ebay CAI you have. It's not like ebay is a specific brand. But most intakes for the Lancer use 4" piping and 4" connectors. But it could be different depending on which monkey made it.

Yup, i bought one as well, and i have an 05 Evo 8. I guess that i am the 2nd sucker to buy it. I already e-mailed the seller about fitment issues, but has not received any replies yet. With a little ingenuity, i was able to install it. The whooshing sound is good but i did not see any gains from it. It actually made my car feel horrible to drive, so i put back the original. I guess you get what you pay for.

B4 the butt dyno won't notice much of a difference on almost any intake, so don't feel too down. The only way to tell is to put it on a dyno, and even then the gains are less than a possible variance based on weather and stuff.

jchang, I don't know what more you're looking for. You asked a vague question and were unhappy with a vague response. Either post a link to the exact unit you purchased, or take a pic for us. Otherwise, we don't know which of the 5 or more "ebay intakes" is the one you bought. If that's not a good enough solution, go to Home depot and get a few rubber fittings for about $3 each and find out for yourself what size your particular intake has.
