intake question (me = newbie)
I drive an automatic lancer ozr 2003.. i want to make it "faster" and sound "better" ... i've had different opinions around the city from people.. some say cold air intake.. some say short ram intake... but since i drive an automatic, which would be best.. and why? and will cold air work in an automatic.. a buncha people told me to get it, but they didn't know if it would run good or at all in auto. trans... please help me! *prolly get it next week, so respond asap, please* ------ by the way.. what else could i put in my car to make it faster.. and sound faster???... thanks!- Rob
you'll find the short style intakes (like rrm or rmr or dragon) are the only intakes that will work for you. the injen and aem intakes are out of the question. they all sound about the same from what i hear. and the horsepower gain is about the same for all as well.
What's up bro. I suggest you search, but if your too lazy to do it, then here's a few tips:
1) An Intake will give you both better mileage and better performance for either auto or stick transmission. It will also sound alot better. When you see an Intake that says it will increase your horsepower by 7-10, bull****! I can tell you that from experience. I just purchased an AEM, and have to say it's the best in the market nowadays. If you do get an intake, make sure it's a good brand, such as Injen or AEM, and not a $30-$90 Intake that claim to make a 7-10 horsepower difference. Remember, when it comes to an Intake, performance first. I recommend AEM, not because I bought, but because it has the highest horsepower raise and performance raise when compared to any otehr intake in he market nowadays!
2) Get an exhaust, or an ECU upgrade. Getting an exhaust will make your car alot louder, and sound faster like you wanted. But when it comes to an exhaust, don't go for bigger size tip, you'll lose performance. I can't stress this enough. Getting an exhaust that's 4" will push out too much air and you will feel the performance loss. As for an ECU, it's always an expensive, but great way to increase performance.
Hope that helps, peace!

the difference in HP you get between this and say . .AEM or injen . . . is marginal at best . . .
just my opinion - - -

btw, whats the RMR website? thanks again
and whats this "short ram, cold rammed intake heat shield" from dragon or whatever??? http://www.dragonintakes.com/coldair/
Almost anyone can say that they are happy with their Intake, doesn't mean they are getting the best results. Go for either AEM or Injen, whichever one you find a better deal on, I promise you you won't regret it!
