the big black plastic box on the right side of the motor is the airbox. you will need to locate the bolts which hold it in and it will come out. also, about 2/3 of the way to the fireall or so, you will notice a black thing which plugs in. GENTLY remove this when you remove the airbox, remembering to unplug.
that should remove the stock. then, I would recommend you install the SRI with the instructions that the manufacturer SHOULD have provided. If no instructions, its pretty easy. connect the tubes, connect plug the black adapter that plugs in (it should have an adapter plate, and hookup the filter. its actually very very very easy to install the sri.
hope that helps somewhat.

all you need to do is... remove the negative from the battery(you need this because you have to force the ECU to reset) then locate the black box, unlock the box (the two silver latches on top) pull out air filter, locate the bolts on the outside of the box, then remove that half.. next unplug the plug that is attached to the MAS.. the black box looking thing, next remove the tubing from the back of the MAS.. one side is attached to the airbox, the other side is attached to tubing.... after removing the tube side unbolt the rest of the airbox... should be like 2 bolts somewhere around it... after that CAREFULLY remove the bolts holding the MAS to the airbox.. there are 4 of them and they can be really really tricky... after removing the MAS put it aside and DO NOT MESS WITH THE HONEYCOMB inside there... it is super delicate!! Save the bolts from the MAS you will need them... next you will see the holding bracket for the airbox.. its held in with I believe 2-3 bolts.. remove that bracket because you have no need for it now...now put the new MAS adapter plate onto the MAS and bolt it together... reattach the MAS to the tube and reattach the wire to the MAS... if it has any type of bracket to hold the thing together find a place to use it.. after that install hte filter onto the rest of the unit... start the car... let it run for about 10-15 mins to allow the ECU to reset, drive it around and enjoy!

I could never get the bolts off of the stock plate. The honeycomb thingy do. Ya know? those 4 bolts/screws..would never come out..they're turn, but never came out...how in the world did you get it out?

^ you need a vise grip to hold the flat side of the bolts inside the MAS to keep it in place because those plastic things around it wont hold while you're turning the nuts from the other side.
some people say you dont need to because of the lancers ECU learning curve... but basically you reset the ECU so that when you start the car it learns that htere is more air coming into the engine so it can set its fuel maps accordingly...otherwise for the first 20 or so mins of driving without resetting your car might run either too lean or too rich... this way you allow the ecu to learn before you open it up
Mainly everyone says reset it... guess its just for safety!
