Go 18's, but I'm not one to talk. I'm still running with my stock 15's 'cause I'm broke (college sucks).

Seriously though, the biggest problem that I've heard of with people who have 18's is that you can feel every bumb and dip in the road.

for 17s you're already looking at a 40 series profile, 18s you'd want a 35 series. Probably end up with a lot of flats and the ride quality would be crap.
With almost no sidewall straight line acceleration would be bad too, corners would be alright.
I went with 17s, planning on getting new rims again, 17s still. They're the perfect all around size.

16's are the best for performance
17's are not too bad but they can get pretty heavy.

Also you don't have to run 40 series tires on 17" wheels

I've heard that 205/45/17 works fine.

Dude, I saw some old school buick with 24's the other day. It even had it labelled with cheap home depot mail box letters right across the quarterpanels
