I think letting it idle for more than 2 minutes is overkill, unless you were racing the car on a track. Remember some dealers will void your warranty if you add a turbo timer, that might be something to think about.

As far as brands, Ive heard good things from Greddy timers...

Boost gauge and boost controller. Very low dollar items and will help the performance of the vehicle; not just the looks. You can buy both for around $120 and install them yourself with tutorials found right on this site. MBC will give you some nice gains in the upper RPMs where the ECU usually lets the boost taper down to ~17.5 PSI. MBC will hold steady at whatever PSI you set it too.

After that most of the things you would do require some tuning. You can do exhaust without tuning, K&N drop in filter, etc. Not to mention the mail-in Dynoflash if you want to up the power a little while getting rid of the speed governor and raising the rev limiter.

Just some suggestions. Good luck with the car!! Hope this helps.

what's ur price range? you can range from a new air freshener to a boost controller j/k.. if you decide on a tt, i'm a big fan of the Blitz DC II dual tt.

The very first thing I did was put in a CompuStar alarm with turbo timer and remote start.

First thing I would do is mod your profile and change the 02 Evo VIII to 03, that is unless you have a european or j-spec model. After I got that taken care of, the first thing I would get is a boost guage then boost controller, exhaust, engine management all in that order.

IMO turbo timers are a waste of money. I just drive the car easy for the last mile or so before I know I'm gonna park it. If thats not the case then I'll let sit for about 30 seconds with the AC on(so the fans run) then shut it off.

Welcome to the "Freak Show"!!!! Enjoy your stay!!! Any pix of the '02 EVO VIII! First mods should be anything, like intake or exhaust, TT, boost guage or even a Manual boost control or afc so you can control futre mods!!! Also upgrading the facvtory steroe system is always plus!!! Also, you can DIY some projects like a grounding kit!!! Congrats on the EVO by the way!!!
