Importing an evo to canada

Hi, everyone,

Since I realised that the lancer evolution was legal in canada, I would like to know if any of you guys know any of the steps to import it from USA, and what would be the price ( only for importing it ).....

If anyone can come up to me with some info, it would be appreciated.

Thanks.

EDIT : please specify if you are talking about US or CAD money, if you come up with prices... thanks

The reason you can't get an Evo in Canada is due to the front end collision rules for Canadien cars. The Evo will not pass this F/E test due to the amount of money it would cost to fix the car if it were involved in a front impact at 20mph. To be technical you could get the car there but it would just have to be registed in the US.

Also, you could not get a Canadien VIN for the car so you would never be able to register it or get insurance for the car.

You could try to "fake" it but I would strongly reccomend against it.

I met up with a couple guys from Canada who were at our local Evo meet and they said you cannot register an Evo up there. I guess it does not meet the Canadian standards for bumper protection up front. Not 100 percent sure about that, but that's what they claim.

Yes I know all that stuff about the bumper etc...

but there are some people here who own evo's. the saaq ( sociétée d'assurance automobile du qébec ( quebec's car insurance association )) accepted to register the cars so yes it is legal to import it and yes I could register it and yes I could drive it legaly....

and, from the latest news, there are 4 or 5 evo's here....

anyway, if any of you knows the details (m prices/steps) about imporing it.... tell me !!

thanks
