I'll refer you to the Newbie forum. Most of your questions can be answered there.

But the short of it is that, you don't need a turbo timer if you don't mind letting your car idle for a few mins after you get to your destination. Blow off valves are for people who are seeking attention and for people with high levels of boost....you won't need one till you have done a lot of work to your engine.

You don't need any electronics on your Evo. It runs perfectly fine in stock condition. If I were you, I would concentrate on getting the car, before you worry about modding it. If you have never driven a car like this before, it will be more than enough to keep you happy for a while.

I would say the only thing that you need is a turbo timer to let the turbo cool down. Otherwise you would have to sit in the car for about 1-2 minutes to let the the oil cool the turbo down. The stock blow-off valve leaks a little but unless you are going to do any extensive modding the stock BOV (Blow-off valve) is going to be fine. The same goes for a boost controller, unless your car is going to see a track regularly a boost controller isn't necessary.

You will need/want a Turbo Boost Guage with Vacume feature and hardware to mount it wherever you like best

turbo timer will keep the car running for a specified about of time after you turn the ignition off to give the oil and turbo some time to cool off, this will increase turbo/engine life

once again a mod ruins some fun and games. Dont take everything so seriously.

Anyways, a Turbo timer which you may see in here as titled TT alot keeps the engine running to allow the turbo to cool down before the engine shuts off. This helps the life of the turbo. They can be set for various times and include a stall where if someone jumps in and thinks they can steal your car bc you left it running, they cant as when they hit the brake pedal it will shut off. Hope this helps.
Some common simple and first step mods would be an exhaust, boost controller, intake, and possible engine management. I went with an exhaust first for the power gains and sound, but basically the choice is yours. Roughly 2000 in mods will make your Evo a beast( as if it already isnt). Let me know if you need more help. Enjoy your car and Happy Tuning!!
