Please forgive the n00b! EVO questions
Hi guys I have a WRX I want to get rid of and get an EVO instead. I'm sorry I'm going to ask n00b questions but please bear with me I'll make them short and sweet.
1) How mod friendly is the EVO? What kind of power would I get going with exhaust, manifold, downpipe, intake, and Fuel management?
2) Tranny problems? The WRX has a weak tranny which is why I want to get rid of it and don't want to get into another car with the same issue.
3) Are there staged upgrades for EVO's to give me some sort of guide as to what upgrade path to take and to see the gain in hp/tq that would result?
4) How much did you guys get your cars for? I would like to be able to tell the dealership I know how much I should expect to pay for the car.
Thanks guys and again sorry for the easy questions. I am at work and don't have time to do a lot of searching right now. Look forward to talking with you guys!

i.) There is a noob forum, and try to search as well.
1.) Mod friendly, its the DSM 4G63 that was out since the late 70's it is hella mod friendly.
You can probably get high 200's whp with the air mods and a Boost Controller.
2.) People complain about the Transfer case and people have had the clutch replaced really early on. I think a lot depends on the driver.

4.) '03 Purchased in August, used with 16k on the odo, mid twenties out the door.

You can tune the hell out of this car,no doubt. The tranny is strong, its just the clutch that is weak from the factory. Put a nice racing clutch in there and the tranny will be good. Another thing to watch though, if your putting down alot of power, is the transfer case. But yeah, search button is your friend. good luck.
Get all your bolt-on mods together.. exhaust...intake.. boost controller...ect... then get it tuned by a reputable tuner.
Tuning is everything in this car to unlock it's true power.
Avoid fast/power shifting. Our syncros are weak so if you miss shift and grind a gear ... that's it. Just a quick positive throws on the shifter will make your tranny last.
Lastly ... do more searches on this topic. there are tons out there
BTW Welcome and congrats on having an EVO.
