Question Trunk Questions

I had my spoiler stolen within the first week or so of owning my EVO. I had the deck lid replaced without the spoiler. My questions are as follows:

Does the RS or anyone elses spoilerless trunk fly up ungodly fast when the release is hit?

Is there a light that goes on when the trunk is open?

Just wondering if I have to take it back to the bodyshop.

Thanks for the help!

I took the spoiler off of my car for a few days and yes, the trunk flies up ungodly quick. Even though the spoiler is light all the weight is at the end so it needs some force to pop up. I also have an ES (same trunk) and that just pops open when you pull the lever. You should be able to get the body shop to adjust it or even replace the springs (I'm guessing it's springs that make it shoot up that way).

No, my RS trunk doesn't go up very quickly at all.

EDIT: Actually, i think i remember reading somewhere that the GSR has a stronger spring than regular lancers or the RS.

Don't have an RS, but my wingless Evo experiences the same propensity to fly open when released. It doesn't seem to cause any harm other than for the unwary person that happens to be around it (like my kids) when I pop the trunk.

Thanks for the feedback. Is there a light in the trunk? I thought there was before the replacement, but I wasn't positive.

Yep, there is light in there, offering weak illumination.

The evo with the big spoiler has stonger tension rods (springs) than one without the spoiler, It is inteded for the extra weight of the spoiler. I know that the spoiler doesn't weigh much, but being on the opposite part of the trunk than the springs, it has ton use more force to keep the trunk up. I know that people with Sti and wrx wings have run into a similar problem.
