Opinions from evo owners.....
Hey guys, I dont post that much, but I need your help deciding what car to get.
I am on the list to recieve an 05 EVO MR, but recently I have been thinking about the 03/04 ford mustang cobra's. I have a family, but this wont nessesarily be the family car, as I own an 00 durango, 98 cavalier and an 04 srt-4. It will however be my play toy.
SRT-4 is subject to be sold upon purchase of evo/cobra
I wanted to see what evo owners thought about the cobras. I am a memeber on srtforums.com and most of them say they would prefer the cobra over the srt.
What is the oppinon of the evo owners?
Thanks, David

scarface: this is my opinion
right now, you have an 00 durango and a 04 srt-4; a suv and a turbo fwd 4 cylinder (4 door)
if I was you and I was to get a 3rd car, I would want one that is totally different than what I already have
the durango is in a class of its own, so lets look at evo and cobra vs the srt-4
the evo is awd, the cobra is rwd, and both are different from the srt-4's fwd configuration.
the evo is 4 banger, 4 doors, just like the srt-4
the cobra is a v8 with 2 doors
my conclusion is that the redundant car is the srt-4; get the cobra for now... sell the srt-4 later, and replace it with an EVO

Long story short on the srt. I test drove one, dealer totaled the car with me in it, I almost died. I was dumb and later purchaced the srt anyway. It sits most of the time now, because it kinda freeks me out. Thats what brought on the purchace of a new car.(sorry should have put that in the 1st post)
Anyone else?????
i dunno... i'd probably go with the evo because it's more of a track car than the cobra (i mean road course, not 1/4 mile). srt-4's a great little car that you can modify to drag race (and do well in autox as well... but evo is a step above).
so i'd get the evo. or do as evo sky suggests and sell the srt and get the evo and the cobra
EDIT: sorry, you posted the same time as me. anyway, get the evo. it's more practical if anything should happen to your durango. cobra is awesome, of course, but go out in the snow in your evo....
have some fun.

Evo > Cobra > SRT
I really can't think of any reason to get a Cobra over the Evo, unless you have to have a coupe. To start with the Evo has better handling, AWD, four doors. Not sure what Cobras run in the 1/4 mile these days, but it's gotta be pretty close stock to stock and in just about any type of non-linear racing the Evo will eat a Cobra alive. If you're truly just after a fast car, then forget the MR, sign up for an RS and use the cash saved to get some basic mods and you will own 99% of all cars on the road...

Cobra's are bad *** and its easy to pull huge numbers on the dyno with few mods with them. Although,.. EVO's rule! Half the cylinders, twice as many doors, cheaper MSRP, and the ability the crush almost anything off the line. I was beating Cobra's at the track on Tuesday and it felt great! GO FOR THE EVO! SELL THE SRT-4! It sounds like the SRT-4 has no place in your driveway after such an unfortunate incident with the dealer. good luck!

cobra is bad ***...super and v8 and rear rules....srt4 is not so great...great price and overall bang but not for me....cobra is the new supra of the street...i suggest get it and be content...if i could do it all over again i would of definitely gotton a cobra....thanks
Depends on what you want, man. I wouldn't say a Cobra is the new Supra. The Supra is a turbo inline 6. That feels a lot different from a big torquey large displacement v8. And it's a far cry from the turbo 4banger.
Basically, if you want a growling, gas eating, tire spinning "manly" sportscar, the Cobra is your best bet. And contrary to popular import guy wisdom, you won't spin it out every time you take a hard corner, provided you can drive. This is also a highway killer.
If you want a little road rocket that's great in the twisties, the Evo is the way to go. It's a lot more sedate in sound, has greater utility, and outhandles pretty much everything. It's probably one of the better track cars you can get.
Really, it's two different kinds of fun. I prefer the Evo. But that's just a preference.

Cobra is a good straight line car if you want quick acceleration and good 1/4 mile times get the cobra
Evo is very respectable acceleration and freakin awesome in the corners if you like taking corners hard and driving normal roads aggressivly and still want the ability to take family when needed or drive in rain or snow etc Evo surpasses the Cobra in Every way accept acceleration. (but for 2 grand you can fix that)

This has got to be one of the most brilliant posts I've ever seen. I am impressed at the command this person has of the english language. In addition I am impressed with the knowledge they have of cars....LoL
Now seriously. If your looking for a car that is something some knucle head thinks is cool because they don't know any better, then buy the Slobra. If you want a car that is an all around drivers vehicle, get an EVO. I am absolutely amazed every day I drive this machine(EVOVIII). I can't tell you how many times that I have seen an EVO or STI compared to a European super car. I have never seen a Mustang compared to them. In addition if you like to tinker with cars, the EVO is screaming for it. You decide........

)Thanks for your input guys~David
first off, your on an EVO board all your answers are going to be biased... post the same question on svt and see the response you get.
cobra = awesome car. buddy of mine has exhaust & x pipe and put down 404rwhp! ford over engineered that engine and probably didn't make a cent, great engine! they hook pretty good to with DR's I've seen 1.8 60' stock, 1320 in 12.55@115 stock.
the EVO is a completly different animal...
If I was in your shoes I would buy an 03 cobra just for the weekend and sell the SRT for an EVO asap.
