evo IX. better car all around if you care about performance. The M is really nice and a good looker, but the driving feel is bland IMO and parts/labor etc is a killer.

^This. The parts add up QUICK. Expect to replace a decent amount of parts anywhere from 60-100k miles. Even doing all the work myself, I spent a good amount on parts alone.

I went from an Evo VIII to an e92 M3 and then back to an Evo X. I love the performance of the Evo but not a day goes by that I don't miss the M3. It all depends on whether you want car designed centered on performance (Evo) or a classy, comfortable, sporty car (m3).

I would pick up a white BMW M3. Put some Alpina kit on it and slap on some HRE's and call it a day.

M3s are very costly to repair even some simple things. I'd go Evo all day.

^Any model is. You have to be real careful where you take it to get repaired. I've seen shady shops try to charge double the book time just because of the make.
