??? about UICP

TOM--

Chatted with you the other day on the phone and forgot to ask....and since I haven't seen any ETS intercooler pipe kits from any customers with the stock airbox.....my question is will the SHORT ROUTE piping with the mini battery work fit without issue with the stock airbox?

Thanks TOM

Neither short route nor stock battery upper piping will work with the stock airbox because of the shorter route they both take when compared with stock. They were designed this way both for the shortest routing in both cases but also to make space for nearly all aftermarket intake systems. If it is your preference you can keep the stock intake tube and upgrade to an open element filter kit only which will make for perfect fitment with either our short route or stock battery upper piping

TOM--

Thanks for your reply...unfortunately that does bum me out a little bit

Ever since I got the car everyone said that the stock box is great and that most other intakes lose power. Plus I do have a $115.00 WORKS filter in there.

BUT--what type of integrity can be gained by updating the intake to your system so I can take advantage of the intercooler and piping? Is there any disadvantages or anything like that.

Thanks TOM for your time and honesty

Open element filter kits only typically cost power if done without a tune on the stock MAF or by using the poor quality Ebay 3" plastic MAF adapter (which will cost you power and driveability every time). Upgrading the intake system and having a tune done afterward will yield better power numbers than with keeping the factory intake box in almost every case.

makes sense

TOM--

once again I appreciate your answers on this subject.

Hopefully this should be my last on this topic.

I saw on another thread a pic of your intake.

question is: what was the secondary pipe coming off the UICP with a purple BOV or something being connected to the pipe kit on the intake?

Also, if I was just to replace the stock airbox (i don't quite yet understand this MAF thing) does the new intake kit come with a new MAF or is there any kind of replacement I'd have to get?

I guess I need a lesson on this.

Thanks TOM

Hey no worries! The piping from the BOV is the recirc pipe kit that we offer with our short route upper intercooler piping kits. If you are running the stock intercooler piping, the OEM BOV mounting hose will be retained and that piece is not needed. If you replace just the stock airbox you'll receive an adapter to bolt directly to the inlet of your existing MAF sensor, a genuine K+N air filter and the mounting hardware for a bolt-on installation.

Well I've pretty much resigned myself to buying the ETS Intercooler & Pipe Kit (short Route) with Mini Battery and the the Intake Kit!!!! (once I decide on the tuning method this will be a go....still holding out hope on the COBB AP...so this purchase will be in a month or so

So I can assume that the upper piping for the intercooler and the intake pipe kit will look exactly like the picture I described before with the recirc. pipe....IS the Stock BOV then retained or do you recommend something else etc. ?

Once again thanks....you're definitely making me feel better about giving ETS my hard earned $$$ for your quality products!!!!

If you plan on retaining the stock intake box, the stock upper intercooler piping will be OK for your power level. It would be quite expensive for us to do a one-off on an item we don't intend to produce so it will probably be best to retain that factory UICP until you're ready to make the move from the OE air box.

With regard to the BOV, the stock IX valve has been great for us and is very functional up to about 30 psi. For that reason you won't need to upgrade it right away or ever if your goals don't include big boost
