Need some insight on the 4" intercooler I just installed

OK so I got my ETS 4" intercooler today and attempted to install it. I was told that the intercooler would clear the crash beam with ½" spacers, witch ets provided. So after getting everything installed and everything going smoothly, I went ahead and installed the bumper, but it just wouldn't go on. My brother and I and tried and it seemed to be hitting the crash beam. It was getting late and decided just to take off the crash beam and it went it with no problems. My opinion it looks better that way, you can see more of the intercooler.
But I would like to have my crash beam for some protection, and peace of mind. So basically what I'm asking is, what am I doing wrong and did anyone else have this problem.

The spacers included in the kit are for the intercooler it self. There should be 2 spacers one for each side of the brackets. If you want to space out the bumper, we recommend using a spacer that is around an 1/8 so you don't have fitment problems when install the bumper.

I would highly recommend trimming the bumper if possible.

If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call.

Thank You!

Ahh ok that makes sense. I was able to bolt up the bracket with out the spacer though, kinda bent the bracket though lol. The reason why I thought those spacers were for the crash beam cause someone email from ets saying that customers were able to fit the crash beam with ½" spacers. So I assumed those spacers were for the crash beam. I have access to a dewalt grinder so it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for your help.
