ETS 3582HTA- A tuners perspective

Lucas and I had the opportunity to tune one of our customer build ups just the other day using the 3582HTA kit from ETS. The car is a perfect example to me of a street car that is not strung out or overly done. It is an 03, with a stock bottom end and only a few helping mods.

Mods-
92 octane
ETS 3582HTA
ETS Short route piping kit
ETS mini battery kit
RC1000s
GSC S2 cams
Custom EnglishRacing Cold air intake pipe kit
Perrin cat back
FP Beehive valvesprings
ARP rod bolts
Balance shaft delete

I dialed in the injectors at idle and cruise and then took the car out for a quick pull at 16psi (wastegate) to make sure it felt right and there wasnt anything I missed. It pulled very strong, felt very smooth and predictable. It wasnt laggy or bad mannered at all. At first I thought maybe this was just because the boost was low. In the logs it was definitely all in by the high 3s at 16psi.

Our dyno is still being currently installed so I dont have a number....yet but will very shortly. The fit and finish of this kit is beyond top notch. Polished stainless abounds, it went on with no hassles, and tuned just as easy.

I will keep this thread going as we continue the tuning process (Our customer has picked the car up until we have the dyno fully functional) and update with pics when it returns. We did run the boost out to a very moderate 24psi for street duty with rather conservative 11:1 AFRs. Even then the car is enough of a handful but this will only end up getting better as we add more time and finesse to the build

Stay tuned...

I intrepeted that he was getting 16 psi by the high 3k RPMs. I get 30 psi by around 4600 with the .63 5 bolt housing with my set up.

That makes more sense, the way it was worded I couldn't what else he may have meant.

And I interpreted as it made high 300's in DLL or some sort of dyno software at 16psi

Can we get some details around the turbo? 4 or 5-bolt, A/R, boost logs if you have them? I'm going to be stepping up my turbo game to this turbo and will be tuning it on E85. What sort of IDC's were you seeing on pumpgas?

Edit: After reading again it looks like it was in full boost (16psi) by the high 3k rpm.

I have a couple:
- Remain OBDII compliant and tune on stock maf/ecu
- Maintain decent spool and not lose too much drivability/streetability over current setup
- Make low/mid 500whp on stock block, high 120/lo 130 traps, hi 10's low 11's (E85 tuning)
- Make mid/hi 600whp on built block/head, mid/hi 130 traps, lo/mid 10's (E85 tuning)

Basically a bad **** on the street that isn't a horrible laggimuffin

I was torn between the Red and a 35R variant; and it basically came down to the fact that I wasn't sure if the Red could meet my future power goals.

Im sure you've figured this by now, but...

-The red won't cut it for you
-35R is on full tilt around your built motor goals.
-6262 seems like the best deal, use it in a kit with a 5 bolt DP so you can use the .63 precision backside....
-Take me for a ride

P.S.- Sorry to threadjack

According the logs we are hitting 24psi by 4350-4450 (I would say 4400 to be safe but it fell between those 2). The load at 26psi is 330 @ 7468rpm. It ramps up almost in a straight line and doesnt start to fall until 7500 and its down to 329.

At 24psi the load is 312-315 at the same RPM ranges.

Pumpgas IDCs-

3500 16%
4000 27.5%
4500 48%
5000 58.6%
5500 64%
6000 71.5%
6500 76.6%
7000 83.6%
7500 89.4%
8000 90.9%

This was 11 AFR instead of 11.5, so we can pull some more fuel out. You can see very quickly though that this turbo with one modded 255 is almost out on 1000s though. We are going to be doing a motor build and a big jet meth kit in the next few months to get a better idea of what this will do.

This car has since gone to a dyno, and while its not ours it at least gives a really good idea of what it should do. On a Dyno Dynamics with this same exact tune it made 428whp. I personally only use dynojet numbers since I am used to them and compare it to what I know. Our dyno will be up and running shortly so we'll retune and dyno it for some concrete numbers I can compare to other cars we own or have done.

Also stay tuned for my 3586 review
