I was cruising at around 90 on the Mitsubishi Motorway (road directly infront of the sea of cars) and i look at them and see 250-300 Evo MR's all with the little roof vortex generators and BBS wheels on them. That had to be the most beautiful thing i had ever seen. More are expected to be there, total number of about 550 will go to the east coast alone. This according to my friends dad, VP of General operations at the plant. Might go back tomorrow and take a picture of the Sea of evo's and show you guys.

yes yes yes yes take pics! also, where is this town you live?

It would have to be Normal (or Bloomington), IL. That explains why I saw "DSM" as the port of entry for an Evo when I was last doing a dealer search.

Can anyone else confirm this? I'm looking to get a MR towards the fall of 2005, and I'm wondering if they'll still be producing them, or the EVO IX will be here already.

Thanks in advance

Eric

Mitsu is sticking to their number on the 05 MR's. They won't give us any additional allocations of the car. I only have one left for the rest of the year. I am sure there will be some still around if only because of the stupid levels of dealer markup on some of these cars. As for the next version of the Evo, probably no major changes in the immediate future. The new lancer platform isn't due out for awhile and that is what they are telling us the next Evo will be built off. If that is the case I think at least 2 years before you see a major difference. Hopefully some minor improvements between now and then but majority of the car should be here for awhile.

I met the MR project manager at a SoCalEvo meet and he specifically said that 1000 is a theoretical production limit. Like any smart business though, he said they would increase production if there is demand.

He did say the increase would be to 1200 total if needed.

I think the IX will be built on the same lancer platform. Just a guess.

NO. Next fall you get the Evo 9 on the same base platform but with variable valve timing and 300 + hp.
