Automatic EVO
It would be nice to see the Evo in an Automatic transmission, but the Evo being such a low production, low selling vehicle in the US and 90%+ people would rather have a manual transmission for it, it just wouldent be cost effective to Mitsubishi to offer up a slush box.
I would assume if the popularity rose in it (say sales figures reaching 10,000 units per year for US sales), I would forsee a automatic transmission option.

I'll bet an auto tranny EVO would sell quite well here. IMO, that sucks. I don't want that here. Keep the car true to its heritage and leave the satisfication of the masses to the ford tarus.

How can you say that??? We have a member on here that says he is handicapped and would love to drive an evo, AND COULD if they made an automatic, and you go and say what you did! What difference is it to you if Mitsu made an automatic as long as they kept the heritage available?? Some times you have to open your mind a little and realize that not every thing is about you. But... you have an opinion and you expressed it.

OMFG....oooops. I didn't realize he was actually handicapped. I thought he (dsmturbo2004) was handicapped refering to an inability to drive a manual transmission. IE lazy, uncoordinated, etc. It was not my intent to actually deny a handicapped person the joy of an EVO, but c'mon.
Hey, the 'VET comes with a auto tranny. You have to pay for a manual. Faster than an EVO too. Just a thought.

I'd say leave it manual. Sure there are people that can't drive it, but thats found everywhere. Hell there was a woman in the paper who *****ed about not being about to test drive a Viper cause she couldn't drive stick. The manual tranny is becoming a rare breed, with only ~10% of new cars sold last year being manual, at least up here in Canada. I for one like seeing auto makers trying to keep performance driving the way it should be, a complete integration of man and machine. Plus its nice to have a car that your friends can't take for joy rides.
