MR driving impressions
MR driving impressions
Hello MR Fans,
Well myself a previous 03 die hard EVO maniac, finally said goodbye to my Rally Red EVO, I'm still in tears (we had some good times together) and got a Grey MR yesterday.
Just wanted to tell you MR fans and owners an impression of the car although not a really good one since I haven't pushed the car yet (still in break-in period).
6-speed: car feels smooth as silk, 6-speed although a bit vague, has none of the notchy or grindy action when shifting (teflon cables?), i think I'm getting to like it, shifting is quick and effortless. Power band comes up quickly and downshifting doesn't require as much blipping. I think this will help the car stay in the powerband easier and make the car faster on the track.
Bilsteins: Well I'm starting to get impressed, no pogo stick bouncing, gone, finis! Valving rate has increased with better response to road imperfections, however low speed response decreased (a bit softer valving). I think the car will be much easier to drive fast, should be fun in the hills.
Feeling of weight: I did think that the car feels more front heavy, but I think it's just an impression of how the weight distribution has changed. Especially since the 6-speed added weight to the front. Until I push the car I won't know how this affects the car's handling limits. Do I feel the lightweight roof? Not sure yet.
Aesthetics: Well the car really is nice in the Grey Mica color, if more one of the things I bought the car for eye candy it sure looks nice. I think Mitsu did a great job.
In conclusion, the 05 MR is definitely the flagship of the EVO line, I think that they really equipped this model well. It's a shame we don't have S-AYC, or the lights, but 85% is close enough for me
When I hit 600 miles, we will see how capable this car really is.
Steve
