Maybe mitsu knows that MIVEC will be harder to tune.. which in turn keeps warranty in check because you wont be able to mod as freely as you do now?

Yeah VTEC sounds cooler than VVTELC(Variable Vaulve timing and electronic lift control) and much better than TPCPS(Two Position Cam Profile Switching).

I just bought february's Sport compact car magazine:

"expect the outpout of the turbocharged, intercooled and otherwise epic 2.0-liter, DOHC, 16valves 4G63 four to increase from the MR's 276hp past the 300hp barrier to something around 310-315 hp."

So the EVO 9 WILL HAVE THE 4G63

by the way i suggest you to buy this edition of the SCC because in they is a review about the EVO 9 and they also compare the EVO MR vs STI...

well whatever it si it need to come on out. i think with mivec it will end up being like the hondas, the hondas not all have what is called vtec killer cams it does excatly what it says and therefore you can run turbo applications or whathave you. im wondering if the same will be for this engine.

Anyone else notice the inclusion of anti-lag piping on the pics on the first page?

so my question has always been:

can we swap a MIVEC head for a regular head to gain the MIVEC?

you can with VTEC, so i would only assume you can with MIVEC.

Nice.

To the nay sayers - just like last year with the MR - many said it would never happen. It's all history now.

With Evo IX - what we actually have is SEVERAL magazine sources suggesting that we will most likely see a 4G63 with variable valve timing on Evo 9 this year. Some say we are likely to get alot of the goodies from the MR on it as well. What we end up with in the USA is still uncertain, but has to sweeten the pot to keep demand up and I'm willing to bet we are about to see the best Evo to date.

If puts a 1/2 decent V V T head on the 4G63 i'll bet some of us will be overcome by uncontrollabe insane laughter when we put the x to the floor in it.
I'm thinking 4.5 sec 0-60

variable valve timing is not worth the money, or trouble of switching your head...

The engine of the evo IX in the Best Motoring febuary 2005 vid is shown as a

4G63 MIVEC-T/C
Max Power 280ps / 6500rpm
Max Torque 40.8kgm / 3500prm (295.1 ft lbs / 3500 rpm)

it will probably make closer to 300ps in real life.

What are those tiny holes in the front bumper under the intercooler opening?
