Talking Excellent reasons to buy the MR

Well, there has been a lot of discussion about the value of the MR vs. the previous years models of the EVO. I don't know if this applies to the '05 GSR and RS, but I got this letter in the mail and it looks like the MR is quite a good value for the money. Take a look at this and please leave off the smart a$$ remarks about new campaign slogan....

Warranty....

Of course, the extended warranty is nice, but there are some warnings about mods even of the "audio"..... Of course, I don't know if they'll deny warranty of unrelated items.... Like if the engine fails and you've changed the radio.....

I recieved the exact same letter with my MR. Its just a decision of how long I want to keep it stock. I want to pay off the car before I mess with anything, but an exhaust systme is the first mod I'm undertaking.

Thumbs up Free maintenance for 45K miles or 45 months!

Here is a very interesting and valuable reward.... those scheduled services could easily run into the thousands over 45K miles or 45 months.....

I don't know about some of you guys.... I'm sure everybody's experience is different but I had a very good experience with warranty work on my '03 EVO 8.
While making a 1/4 mile pass, my A/C compressor seized. I got it towed to a dealer where the guys were all excited over my mods (from full exhaust to cams, injectors , HKS intake and even AEM EMS). The service manager got all the work done under warranty except an A/C hose that was damaged due to the crappy installtion of the Greddy FMIC......
I don't deny some ppl are getting shafted but my experience so far has been very good. Of course, I'm thinking very, very carefully about the wisdom of modding my new MR....

The extended warranties are definitely refundable. You can get all the money except the prorated use of it. In other words they'll refund all the time you've not used of that warranty. Call them and tell them you want to cancel the warranty, and get a refund.

Talking

the warranty info applies to all 2005 evo models. what made me not buy the MR is it still isn't quite the 1 they have overseas. the us spec MR does not have the i'c water spray & AYC as does the jdm model. looking under the hood of my 03 & 05 evos together, the front diff resevoir on the 05 is where my i/c water resevoir is on the 03.

I did not get any of that information with my '03 EVO 8........ It did not have free scheduled maintenance and the warranty was hella shorter...... How come I have not heard anybody talk about the free scheduled maintenance before? I remember with the '03's they actually were selling something called a pit pass or some other bullshirt. That cost a good bit of money. The free maintenance could easily run over a grand if you pay the dealer to do it. They used to charge upwards of $120 just to do the oil changes! Never mind the diff, tranny and brake fluids. That feature is worth some real money........

Yeah I got the same chingadera also. I think they are giving away the maintenance so they can cut warranty costs by inspecting the cars at the same time and void sections of the warranty if necessary.

Mitsu Service Advisor: "Here are your keys Mr./Mrs (fill in the blank) You are all ready to go! Oh... by the way, we noticed you installed a (fill in the blank) on your car and we went ahead and voided your warranty at no extra charge. See you next time!"
