announced in japan for their ix evo. there are official
mitsubishi videos with gil panizzi (mitsubishi's rally driver)
driving and talking about the 4g63 mivec powered evo ix.

true...might be official for the JDM version of the evo...but who is to say that the USDM version is going to get it....its like the 2006 Eclipse...all this hype about the E-BOOST feature in the JDM version that the USDM isnt getting...and this is based of the 2006 Eclipse launch site from Mitsubishi.

well there's an article on the Evo IX in the copy of Best Car magazine i picked up in Japan last week and the engine has Mivec.

if i had a scanner i'd put the article up on here so you could see the pictures (and read the story if you can read japanese). there aren't really any interior shots in the magazine, but it has a similar shot of the MIVEC head and some nice exterior shots. here are the specs from the magazine:

I think that the Old Evo 7 dash that the USDM 8 appears to have is out dated, definitely need auto climate like the rest of the world has and the narrow Recaro's with higher Side Bolsters.
But once again we'll get the watered down version, basically an RS II and I want all the creature comforts I can get, So I guess I am going to have to import mine and get the full blown 9.
Folding Mirrors too, Evo 7 U.K. had folding mirrors and the U.K. 8 has

etc.. AND C'MON Its window swtiches and glove compartment are all lighted.

One of the many reasons EVO purchase made me think otherwise. I am NOT really a fan of STI but for the money, it is a much more overal better value.

 

I also agree with Cruise Control too, to me they are little things that make the difference, the icing on the cake as it were.
Maybe then the guys from Top gear and Fifth gear would rate the Evo better than the Slowbaru's

 

Only reason is b/c the evo they test is FQ300 and FQ320 v.s. the regular STI. The USDM EVO is barely even FQ300 but more like FQ260. USDM STI is actually faster than USDM EVO, stock v.s. stock (straight line) NOT bends.

 

It doesn't matter jaguar you will never own either the evo or the sti. please go back to audiworld and annoy those guys. thanks

That's where you are wrong.

Previously, Top Gear tested the Evo VIII FQ300 compared to the STI PPP, both cars with 300bhp.

Then last year, they tested the MR FQ320 against the STI WR1, both cars with 330bhp.

The USDM Evo VIII MR Edition is pretty close to the JDM spec MR. AFAIK, it has the same engine and turbo, merely losing the SAYC.

 

I want to see some interior shots so when you girls are finished arguing (\/ see sig) can we get some photos.
