future of mitsu?

what do you guys think of the future of mitsubishi is in the US market. Im sure most of you are familiar with the manipulations of numbers made by Mitsubishi and then they offer a hyndai warranty to try to improve sales? I think the Evo is cool, but the new eclipse is girlier than ever, and the other cars/trucks in their lineup are unimpressive and are outclassed by competitors.(who would get a montero over a pathfinder??) Mitsu had a Loss of 220,000,000 Yen from operations in 2004. When will this issue be addressed further? Here is an old but yet very relevant article:

Mitsubishi basically has nothing going beyond the regular Lancer line and ofcourse the EVO. They need a greater influx of cash into R&D and major changes across their product line. GM is in a similar spot in my view, a stagnant product line, some of which has been reshaped but mostly just touched up which is not selling up to par, and most likely will continue not to considering the strength of their class competitors. Mitsu and GM are parrallels with similar corporate strength in their native territories as a whole.

Similarly as GM continues in the decline I see Mitsu doing the same, obviously not with the same type of assured survival. Future shared development with Chyrsler/Hyundai should help in alleviating costs and I think Mitsu will continue to hang... by a string. Look at how far Nissan has come since their early 90s collapse, I could easily see Mitsu doing the same as they still have a somewhat positive brand image with younger buyers.

mitsu better get on the ball they have had a very substantial close of dealership across the us and about four to five in ga alone. five have close since i bought my evo with only one opening up. Gm will survive they are starting to appeal to younger crowds and coming with more products dont count them out. Mitsu is a different story. Might as well just have dealerships called evo and lancer sales.

In all honestly, I don't think the Evo makes Mitsu very much money. They don't sell a whole lot of them and it's estimated that 50% of all Mitsu warranty work is on the Evo. Mitsu needs to make a car like a camry or an accord to be competitive.

its not going to work i would rather take a ford focus than any other car mitsu makes besides a evo. and by all means they do sell a good hand of evos. check their car sales.

^^4000 evos in 2004 in the us. @ an avg. of <30k=120 mil of rev in the us. that is nothing. who cares about warranty work on even 2000 evos a year. it might cost mitsu a few mil for warranty work on all evos. mitsu should be okay with their restructuring. they continue to decline, but not as quickly as they have been in recent years. i like the new eclipse and it is very quick. if they come out with an AWD turbo eclipse again, watch out. mitsu is a young persons car now. and there is plenty of brand loyalty. ive owned 3 and im 21. they will be fine troll.

I think mitsu should come out with ralliart galant and other rallitart type car. The new eclipse is amazing and it will sell amazingly i think. just cause some of us guys think it girly doesn't mean it will sell bad the 3G eclipse sold better then all the other eclipse and i think this one will be even better.

o and heres some pics of the ralliart galant

How many people mod their Evo's? I have only seen two stock ones, besides dealer's lots, and about 12 modded ones. I think mitsu has a lot to gain by bringing ralliart over here through the dealership just like STI/SPT parts for subaru, mopar for dodge, etc. I would buy all my upgrades through mitsu/ralliart knowing that they would fit my car perfectly and my warranty would be retained. Wouldn't most of you guys agree?

True ... mashup-bishi has a double wammy. The recall scandal is bad enough, but combined with last year's marginal products - gives them the kiss of death.

I like the look of the new Eclipse. Hopefully can revamp the rest of the line to help imporve a grave situation.

the evo is a great car, but they need more than just that... they messed up on the eclipse... my friend who lived in japan for 10 yrs said that mitsu is consistantly the lowest ranked japanese make in japan, which is death in a country where every car is reliable. chrysler's hand in mitsu doesnt really help them either, because though chryco has decent style, their execution and reliablity is still poor. i bought an sti b/c of the shaky future of the company... i wouldn't want my evo serviced by dodge mechanics...

It's only up from here for Mitsubishi. All this talk that Mitsubishi is going down is all nonsense! Many manufaturerer gone through the same spell as Mitsubishi is right now. You guys are not looking at the overall picture. The Lancer was rated most sales in the world in small compact and the outlander most sales in small suvs. Not in the country but the World...you know that little blue thing we all live on. If yoiu don't believe me do some research...I'm sure you guys are capable of that. Sure sales are low in North America and it is hurting Mitsubishi. Especially when chrysler denied mitsubishi for any money. But thanks to Bank of Tokyo, mitsubishi will have enough funds to bring sales back up in North America. And guys, mitsubishi is now coming out with a new line up...Evo IX, the eclipse which came out already...The Raider, their new truck line and bringing back the minivan. With their new line up it will give mitsubishi different clientell from tuck buyers, soccor moms, you name it......................so like I said Mitsubishi's future is only going up from here!
