i love it, it is fast enough to be fun and it is just ugly enough to not draw any attention.
Sorry to potentially spoil things, but this wasn't from a dealership. This was straight from THE Mitsu EVO Product manager for the US. He's the guy that dictates what the packaging content will be for ALL US EVOs. Hes the guy to thank for making A/C standard in the IX rs's and giving the USDM RS's Brembos, as opposed to standard sliding calipers like the JDM's. SORRY!!!!
Looks like we're getting inconsistent predictions as far as a possible USDM release. Edmunds says no but some of the car mags I've read lately say yes. I could really give 2 $hits about the car's looks. It's extremely utilitarian and, although it looks like a Volvo, it does everything a SUV can but with more MPG, better handling and ten times the agility and acceleration.
My wife's '00 Xterra is getting a little long in the tooth but she loves riding shotgun in my '05 Evo as I carve up the twisties or abuse the freeway onramps. If Mitsu offered this for the USDM at less than $35k with an auto-tranny option and (hopefully) side-impact airbags I wouldn't even think twice about it. The SUV would go bye-bye and my garage would be home to my Evo VIII sedan and my wife's new Evo IX wagon.
