Also, this appears to either be an automatic, or have paddle shifters on the steering column. See the silver things inside the steering wheel??

Well just in case, it's a paddle shift gearbox that uses two clutches to basically stop the jerkiness that's inherent in most of these type of gearboxes by having the second clutch already in place before the gear change. Most prominent uses in production vehicles currently are with Volkswagen/Audi. Just look at the Audi 3.2 TT w/ twin clutch gearbox.
Car looks sick IMO. Way better than any previous design and it's exactly what the Evo needs to be these days.

IMO the look is too soft without harder lines...but then I guess that is a bit dated I suppose. Different strokes for different folks but IX MR here I come.
I just dont want a larger, heavier, softer lined vehicle which at least in print looks to be the case.

If the car isn't out until 2009 then Mitsu has 5 yrs to lower the price on that technology. I would not at all be surprised to see the aluminum body and LEDs, the interior might be a stretch though.
i think the thing looks great....to the guy who doesn't know what a twin clutch tranny is...basically they put one set of gears, 1,3,5 on one clutch, 2,4,6,R on the other, so when you shift from first to second, instead of the jerk and pause one clutch disengages while the other takes over so it's done in one smooth motion, and often faster than you could shift the car yourself... i know the interior wont make it because it's completely useless in that form, but it looks cool for the concept... as for the exterior, i think it looks bad freakin ***. it looks mean, like it's ready to do some damage, which it most likely will be. can't wait to see what it finally looks like when it gets here. i kinda think it'll be close to that tho, because the eclipse is almost identical to its concept counterpart so we'll see...until then tho, EVO IX MR here i come
The car looks like a European Ford merged with a Dodge something or other. Not 'hard' enough IMO to be called an Evo but I doubt this is an Evo, just a project to test out a few things here and there that will make it to production.
One things almost certain, a completely new Evo X is not coming out next year....I just cant see how they can be so close and no ones caught serious testing be it cold weather, warm weather or at the 'Ring via a spyshot.

Does anyone know if the Ferrari transmisisons use this? I know that their paddle shift trannies can shift in some incredible amount of time, like under 1/10th of a second.
