2007 Lancer Evolution? October Road and Track says "YES"

From the Oct 2006 Road and Track "2007 Model Preview," page 86:
"Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX
Mitsubishi's road going rally car, the Lancer Evolution, has redefined the term 'Pocket Rocket' with its aggressive stance, brilliant all-wheel-drive handling and powerful turbocharged engine. The Evolution IX is the latest model and comes with 286bhp on tap from its 2.0-liter turbo inline-4. For 2007, the Evo sees no changes, though a special edition will be available 'soon.' A new regular Lancer will bow next year as a '08 model. And what of the next-generation Evolution, the Evo X? Its arrival is not yet in sight but we hope the horsepower wars will have their effect and the next Evo will be even bigger and badder. We can't wait."

^^^ Yes, we all know that the SE is already out.

What we do not know for certain is if there wil be any 2007 Evo models. If you ask any Mitsu dealer, of course they will say no because they want you to buy a 2006. I was just at the local dealer tonight, and they said that same thing - No 2007s.

However we do NOT have any confirmation from Mitsubishi that there will be no 2007 yet. Road and Track reports that there will be a 2007 Evo model. Are they right? Who knows?

that will be very interesting, but you need more true facts supporting that.

Unless Mitsubishi modifies the airbag system in US Evos (which they won't), there will not be any 2007 Evos for the US market.

No side air bags + No dual stage passenger airbags + no self leveling HIDs + no tire pressure monitoring system + no emissions certification = no 2007 CT9A.

None of those things you listed are required for 2007 US market cars except for the dual stage (SMART) passenger side airbag, which would be trivial to retrofit. And even with the SMART airbags, there is a loophole whereby the new SMART airbag rule only goes into effect for vehicles manufactured after Aug 31, 2006. Nominal model year has nothing to do with the SMART rules, only the build cutoff date. To exploit the loophole, a carmaker could simply stockpile cars built before the cutoff date, and later sell them as nominal 2007 models. Such a move by an automaker is not unprecidented. In 2001, Honda sold 2001 model year Preludes in the US that were all built in the summer of 2000.

False. The TPMS program is being phased in such that only a percentage of 2007 models built need to meet the TPMS rules .That rule does not affect all vehicles except those built after Aug 31, 2007

Still a dumbass law. When will they stop regulating in changes that a conscientous, engaged, informed driver does not require?

Damned insurance lobby ...
