well in most occation, one of the tuner people/shops (aftermarket) will come out wit a stroker kit for these engines, and the evo is a tuners fav so most likly they will come out with a strokker kit for the new 4B11T! the question is WHEN?

These guys are dumb@sses. Road and track and Car and driver both got 7.2 0-60 times they said 9.0 I dont think so. I put an RRM intake and exhuast on my GTS and dropped the 0-60 time by a full second around 6.2-6.3. Plus dropping the 27 pound muffler off there was trimming down car weight to. And with the pully and suspension upgrades it will be even faster. Edmunds isnt a reliable resource for information 6 models No way mitsu is going to put out 6 with more variations of each that wouldnt be cost effective by a mile . The mitsu rep said EVO X 1/4 of 2008 and one more model (RA) after that. I would rather have the 4b11 then the 2.4 anyways becuase when EVO X drivers start dropping off stock parts they will bolt on to mine

It would be nice if they put a 2.4L engine and then get it stroked. You will be able to put a turbo larger than a GT35R without excessive lag.

Prophetic words, I do believe...

"152hp... yet only a tenth or so quicker than the 120-hp 2006 Lancer managed."

30 more hp... sound familiar?

As Show Time mentioned, guys at edmunds.com don't know how to drive the new Lancer. Evolution.net and C&D posted 0-60 times at around 7.6 sec. (and from personal experience I would say thats about right) which actually makes the new Lancer one of the quickest in its class. The only car that is quicker in this class is Mazda 3 with the 2.3l engine (but only marginally), the 2.0l Mazda 3 which supposedly offers about the same power as the 2.0l unit in new Lancer is actually slower than the new Lancer even though it's a lighter car, I guess Mitsubishi did a better job of actually transfering the power to wheels (better traction).

This is a ridiculous argument. If they suck at driving the new lancer, why would they be any better at driving the old one? And are you going to say the same when they compare the new X to their 13.3@103 IX results? You have to compare apples to apples, otherwise you can not make any valid comparisons.

Ummmmm, have you driven the previous generation manual transmission Lancer OZ? Have you driven a manual transmission new Lancer GTS? I have and I can tell you that it's about a second faster in 0-60 time, in fact the new Lancer GTS is in the previous generation Ralliart territory when it comes to 0-60 times. It's funny how edmunds compares manual transmission previous gen Lancer, to a CVT transmission new Lancer in auto-mode (not even in manual mode which is in fact faster than auto-mode which is programmed for fuel efficiency and not performance) because that is the only way the new Lancer would have about the same 0-60 time as previous generation. So all in all this edmunds article has a flaw.

And I am more than sure that Evo X will be a faster car than the current IX, the new base Lancer is so much better designed than previous generation and I am more than sure this will be the same case as far as Evos go. I know people here are sentimental/biased towards their Evos but they don't call this car Evolution for nothing.

My prediction is that the Lineup will be simplified in time. I would imagine that the GTS will eventually get a 2.4l to and then you'll get the GSX. The best thing about this Lancer line up is that it pretty much has something for every price range. The line up makes sense and the car looks solid. I am definitely going to test drive one next weekend just to get an idea of how the chasis feels.

The wider the price range they make, the more people they'll be able to sell it to.
