Several factors make up a car's historical significance, but rarity and provenance--a given car's chain of ownership and its achievements in the hands of those who drove it--are generally regarded as most important when it comes to value.
Being the evo line up in the history of Rally and its winning streak. I think the evo fits this crieria and will go up in value.

there are plenty of cars that increase value over time. Prices go up as more people want them. I have a feeling that the evo 8,9 will both increase in value in time.

I love my evo but think it looks like crap just like i think the evo x looks like crap too

compared to my CLK or 335i or RS4 or M3 or M5...well the list goes on on on
