Price Change???

Ok so i've searched around and haven't really found anything. In my opinion i think the evo X looks like crap. Also its not a true 4g63 anymore. So im wondering if the price of the Evo9 will go down in value or go up once the evo x comes out. Im set on buying an evo 9 in late january of next year, but do you think that they'll go up??? ~ Thanks.

There's no way the 9 will go up. No matter how much you wish for instantaneous classic status for the 8 and 9, it isn't going to happen.

Draco-REX: Why are you always bashing on the Current gen Evo's. You don't even own one. You always say that the new Evo will be better, when no one even know's if it even will be. or have the potential that the current one's do.

To adio3x: I am sure that they will go down in price because a two year old car usually does. Since there are so many people that buy and sell the first few years. this is the best time to buy a pre owned car because of so many other cars that are in similar condition competing with them. In my opinion the current evo's have already proven themselves, so why not go with something that'll be similar or better than the new generation evo's. Save some money to mod and make faster.
Good luck.

First, I'm not bashing. I'm being honest. I have, and will, provide objective reasons for my opinions. In my opinon the Evo 8 and 9 are misproportioned and ugly. In another thread I said they were "god-awful dumb looking" but that was exaggeration in response to the post above it.

Second, it's not ok to "bash" on the current Evo but it's ok to "bash" on the next Evo? Let's be even handed here.

Third, if I believe the new Evo will be better, is that opinion worth less than those that say the new Evo will be worse? As you said yourself, noone knows what the stats are. I do believe the X will perform slightly better than the IX. In another thread I said that I think the IX will beat the Manual X in the 1/4, lose to the DSG X in the corner, and lose just slightly to the X on the track. As for potential, I have *never* said the 4B11T will equal the max modified output of the 4G63T, never. I have however lobbied for the 4B11 platform because to my eyes, all the evidence says that it will *not* be the wimpy POS that everyone's making it out to be.

Fourth, whether or not I own an Evo has nothing to do with the facts that are "on the table." You don't need to own a car to see it, to sit in it, to know the specs, or see how it stacks up against its own competition.

Back OT: My statement above still holds true. *NO* car has ever achieved instant classic status when the manufacturer has moved on to a new generation of the same model. That's not the way the world works. Maybe in 25 years or so, a mint condition IX may bring in a good price. But not now, and not next year. The rest of the world (the people who determine prices on used cars, not enthusiasts) couldn't care less if the X was powered by a 4B11, 4G63, LS1, or Wankel Rotary. They do care the the IX is yesterday's news, thus, prices will fall.

I'm sorry, but that is life.

Yeah, people were buying up F-body camaros when they stopped production. Look at there value now and they aren't even made any more! The prices will not go up and I doubt they will even hold very steady. The people that mod their cars are a small percentage of actual owners, so they won't do much to swing the price of a car.

I wonder, if the last generation rx 7 wasn't around than i bet the generation before that would of retained it's resale value better. The only way evo 9's or 8's will retain their value is if there wasn't an EVO X. Same goes for a supra, if there was a mk5 supra right after the mk 4, even if it isn't better than the model before, the former generation prices will tank. Now it's possible 30 years from now that pristine evo 9's could be going for 80k, but that's only because they would be considered a piece of history.

Same goes for mustangs, the old ones aren't necessarily better than the new ones, they are just considered classics. No way possible will the evo 9's or 8's retain their prices. It's stupid to think so, most people who drive cars will rather have a evo X. Maybe they won't be car enthusiasts, but that doesn't matter.

1996 Toyota Supra? in 1997 and 1998 the 1996 was still the car to get and 10 10 years later its still the car to get... I would sell my evo and my wife (not really) for a 1996 Toyota supra... In fact Suprastore.com had my buddys car up for a bit at a hefty 74k

That is all your opinion and you are entitled to it by all means. What do you expect for people to act when you are saying all these negative thing's about these cars(they look ugly they will meet their match with the new Evo and yadda yadda) you don't see me going to whatever trueno or hachi roku website you go for your car needs and dissing your cars like "oh man so and so car is better, why didn't you get that or why didn't you get a gt-s instead of the SR5".
Also by this statement
Fourth, whether or not I own an Evo has nothing to do with the facts that are "on the table." You don't need to own a car to see it, to sit in it, to know the specs, or see how it stacks up against its own competition.

It seems you really know nothing about cars in general and are just some fanboy.
So if you don't know the specs of a car how will you determine if it is fast or slow? what drive train it is? what size engine it has? if it is AT or MT? you know the basic thing's people want to know of a car that has a hefty price tag.
Have you ever even driven a fast car?
It just pisses me off when people talk bad about cars that they haven't even driven or owned.

Draco has a point though...

Why is it ok for people to bash the X but when the tables are turned evyeroen gets wet?

You guys might think the X is ****ty but he probably thinks your evos are ****ty both parties are entitled to what they feel.

But seriously no one is even giving the X a chance because lame threads liek these appear every week

*Oh my 9 will be a classic blah blah blah* LOL you gotta be effin kiddin me classic.

*ITS THE LAST TRUE EVO LAST 4g63* **** like that is stupid..LOL wait a couple months and see... BUT as it stands ill be behind draco because i know mitsu knows what they are doing MORE than you guys. They get paid to do this not you.

Hmm let me think. A mass-produced car produced by a japanese manufacturer is superseded by another model... and you think the price for the previous (second hand) model might somehow go above the price it was before it walked out the showroom floor?

Are you sure you're old enough to drive? Is this a parody thread?
