problems with the X??

ok well i was reading about what you all said about the X, and well i saw that they have been testing this car and driving it for about 2 years now.. so my Q is is there really going to be that big of problems with the car when it comes out? since it has been tested for such a long time.

testing can never really compensate for the variables in every day driving and use no matter how extensive or thorough they are problems and glitches are expected in all new things whether small or big.

Here's a question that's not a rhetorical one:

Are there any common and consistent problems with the new Lancers?

Granted the Lancer doesn't undergo the same level of flogging that the Evo will, but they can still have problems across the model line. So, anyone in the '08 Lancer circles know of any common issues? They may be indicative of what we might see with the Evo X.

On the other hand, the Evo X will be in the *second* year of the new platform. So it may not be plagued by the same issues. The first year Lancers may very well help Mitsu iron out the smaller, more annoying issues before the first X even hits a dealership floor.

I think if there are issues, they will be specificly with the Evo's parts. Which, admittedly, is no small number. But the chassis itself should be free of most of the new-car bugs.

But where's the fun in that? Speculation is at least entertaining.

There is this wonderful thing called recalls and warranty service that really mitigates whatever issues may come up in the new evo. The biggest issues wont be discovered until people start to mod and see if there are any new limitations added to inhibit mods or that limit the amount of power they can produce no one has driven one or had one long enough to identify any real issues.

There's three shift modes. I can't find the article that describes them now, but I believe the modes are Normal, Sport, and Super-Sport. The article didn't talk much about Normal or Sport. I'm thinking that Normal will downshift for you if you are coming to a stop. Sport, I believe, give you full control on up and down shifts. Super-Sport it did describe; that mode will only allow you upshift if the revs will stay in the powerband. Otherwise you can't upshift. This is for Track use only.

One worry though is features added the second year. For instance, the '04 STIs came with an open front differential, but the '05s came with a helical front LSD. Sometimes Manufacturers will slip in small features in the second or third year.
