It's an SR5.. SOHC, 70hp, and no LSD. Sure you want to spend that much on it?

Well, let's do some silver-lining speculation.

Assuming that the 280ps/276hp limit for advertising is being upheld by Mitsubishi, then we can assume that the X will have more than that.

We know that the 4B11 has all the ear-marks of a high-revving engine, and the 7K redline is proof of that. Since 4-cyl engines with high redlines commonly are higher in hp than in tq, we can speculate that the hp will be above 311.

Now how much higher? The higher the redline, the bigger the disparity usually. Since the X's redline isn't sky-high, I don't htink we'll see a large gap. But a noteable gap nonetheless..

So I'm thinking 325hp.

I will be an extremely happy man if the evo x has 325 horsepower

Actually, Honda broke it with the Legend in 2005. And I don't think Nissan is following it with the debut of the Skyline GT-R.

Did you guys catch the three different shift styles and the paddle and the stick shift? I'm not to keen on that. I looked at the edmunds.com video and Mitsu are supposed to be offering a six-speed version. I would lean towards that one, but I'll test-drive both.

Now the question comes down to which car I would get: a Foose Mustang, a GT-R or an EVO X? Or maybe just get a truck, like everyone in my family wants me to do? Choices, choices.

If had that kind of money, I'd get the GTR. But I don't have anywhere near that much, so it's the Evo X.

Actually the X looks pretty nice in the video. I just can't have a paddle shifter. If the MR (or whatever they're going to call the highest performance model) comes in a real red or black with a true 6-spd, I'm going to get an Evo X. Oh and as long as you can turn off the ASC.

Believe me, I'm not swimming in money. Even after trading in the Evo VIII with a sizable down payment (at least $15K) my monthly payment would be around $650 a month if I were to get a GT-R. The price of the car isn't going to bother me; what would bother me will be how much it would be to mod it.

Subaru really hasn't broken it. Japanese companies have for years rated their cars close to right in other markets outside of Japan. The STI in the USA and Japan have different engines, and the USA one is rated at 293hp and the Japanese one is around 280hp, which doesn't really matter because they both probably put down similiar power to the wheels. My old 94 VR4 was rated at 280hp in Japan, but in the USA it was rated at 320hp. Even the USA ratings aren't always correct, with those cars making even more power than the USA and European ratings. My point is I expect the the EVO X to be rated somewhere between 300-320hp in the USA, and even then I still think it will be underrated.

As far as the video, great find . I absolutely love the styling of the EVO X, but must admit the seats were a little disappointing. Maybe it's just the video and they probably look better in person, but I think the EVO IX has more attractive seats and the whole interior was nice, and improvement over the IX but not as much as I was expecting. Also if this video is accurate, I was a little disappointed to see the redline @ 7,000 rpm. For some reason I was expecting atleast 7,500rpm till redline. Oh well still looks very nice, and I expect the EVO X to be the best performance EVO yet

With a "square" engine, it seems to me that it wouldn't take all that much to get the redline to 7500. I think the limits would be in the valvetrain, and with the 4B11 being a DOHC vertical inline 4 the valvetrain is a snap to work on.

This engine will probably love to rev.
