In its new guise, the Evo is sure to appeal to more women and guys who want a speedy ride to take out on the town and still be taken seriously.

LOL awesome

The Evo X gains momentum smoothly, almost too smoothly for hard-core forced-induction fans. Absent is the turbocharger surge that comes on at the 5000- to 6000-rpm mark. In fact, the 4G63 feels and sounds like a naturally aspirated 6-cylinder. Although the new car doesn't quite match the Evo IX's prowess in a straight line, it's quick nonetheless. It reached 60 mph in 5.2 seconds and dashed through the quarter in 13.8 sec.

thats road and track now saying that its 13.8 read up on futrue models

Nope, just not shooting for the teenagers working the register at the fast food place. Funny how you equate sporty, sophisticated and attractive with a soccer mom ride. I guess some people just don't get it.

Right or wrong, what they are going after is a more mature and sophisticated buyer (read makes more money) than the current model. I love my EVO, but who in their right mind would honestly say it has an interior befitting a car costing $30k.

The best thing is you get all this improvement in a car that will beat the current model around the track. Somehow, I'm sure that's not good enough though.

I'm pretty sure the insurance will go down. Currently, most owners are statistically in the worst driver catagory, 17-25 yr old males. A broader appeal can only make it cheaper.

I personally like the look of the X and believe with some basic mods it will look and perform even better than stock and better than the IX...A car does not need to be raw to have great road characteristics (e.g. an M5 feels great) ...As for gaining broader appeal, oh well, maybe they'll make a truly badass limited edition evo...

i think the weight could be down a little more, but overall its not a bad compromise

It says they're still tweaking the launch control. It's probably gonna be hold the brakes and gas, release brakes and you're off.
