Popular Mechanics Evo X Test Drive
i agree with IMR-TIM, the evo VII wasnt any faster in acceleration than the VI, but it handled...and that seems to be the case with the X, so whats the problem?
to those who say the evo is turning into a luxury car, give me a break, theres a difference between a luxury car and a car that offers luxury features. would you call a civic ex-l with a navi and leather a luxury car? probably not.
to those who cry about the tunability of the new engine, just give it a chance. for example, many honda ppl reacted similarly when the k-series engine came out, they were still riding the b-series nuts because it was what they wer comfortable with...but it turns out that the k-series was great in its own right....im pretty sure the 4B11 will be great too

It does seem that way if you consider that it has actually created a model of a primary buyer who is described as male, 35, single but actively dating, has a degree from a high profile school, earns $140,000 a year and lives in a downtown loft apartment. Again, this description leaves me totally out, but what it might do for some is elevate the Acura cachet.

this is the description of the target Acura RDX buyer. i assure you mitsu wants a share of THIS market. 18 yo evo fanboys don't put down the bucks. if they did then wouldn't the evo 8-9 have saved mitsu in america? too bad not enough hardcore evo fans to continue the hardcore rally car tradition.
the new evo X is here to make money, not please the fanboys. but that doesn't mean it has forgot its roots either.
Evo X: just a different kind of FAST...

Nope, just not shooting for the teenagers working the register at the fast food place. Funny how you equate sporty, sophisticated and attractive with a soccer mom ride. I guess some people just don't get it.
Right or wrong, what they are going after is a more mature and sophisticated buyer (read makes more money) than the current model. I love my EVO, but who in their right mind would honestly say it has an interior befitting a car costing $30k.
The best thing is you get all this improvement in a car that will beat the current model around the track. Somehow, I'm sure that's not good enough though.

So the car is a few tenths slower in the quarter mile. People are focusing on that one let down rather than the fact that it's a better car from soup to nuts. And honestly, horsepower isn't that hard to make. People need to get over it.
