Insideline Modified Evo X vs GT-R track battle!
(Hoping this is not a double post...)
I have been waiting a long time for this article! They tried to build an Evo GSR that was still comfortable for DD but could also take it to a stock GT-R at the Streets of Willow.
For your reading pleasure:

Here some of the mods they used.

i like how they did the test - it's like a REAL street Evo for your REAL better-than-average driver. Either way I'm sure the results would have been very similar, pretty much negligible between the two cars.
You can sift through all the posts to find all the steps they took. They did it in a bunch of steps with every part, not all at once.
Final power mods IIRC: AEM intake, AMS IC piping and FMIC, Garrett GT3076R drop-in, AMS widemouth, Cosworth cams, either stock or high flow cat, AMS dual exhaust. Uncorrected, 388 on RRE dynapack on 91 oct, corrected was ~420 IIRC. There's a link in the text to the dyno.
Senior editors of car magazines may not be "professional" but I doubt they have a lack of driving skills. I'm sure most of them are as good as your precious Ryan Gates.
Anyway, cool find, I'm sure most of us already knew that though. Any idea on handling (and other non-power) mods?

I do think for this test though the staff did a good job.
Eric
Does anyone else disagree with their performance mods? Doesn't that Garret turbo have issues? Where are the FMIC / piping specs? AEM intake? Seems odd for a higher performance car. I feel they could have done a lot of other things differently. I have been losing respect for RRE slowly... but that could just be personal beef I have with them.
I guess if all you care about is how the cars perform on a track that doesn't have many high speed areas... Sure. I can name a whole bunch of cars that would be worthless in that case.
Very true. I just don't like it when they put complete n00bs in the driver seat (like they did with the CTS-R race). The guy that drove the evo had never been on a track in his life.
The original intake was AMS, but they put on the AEM because it's CARB legal. You can dig up all the info in the link I posted earlier.
