Looks like they are going the same path as the camaro & mustang bigger and fatter until no one wants one.

I hope I am wrong, but my IX looks better to me.

So you think the IX is the pinnacle of automotive beauty?

I just don't see how the Evo IX looks better than the Evo X. The Evo X looks more proportioned, sleek, and modern. The Evo IX looks like a cheap econo-box from the mid 90's.

The reason why you think your Evo looks better than the X is because you had developed a biased attachment to it. It's the same thing that happens when you get to know a girl. The more time you spend with her the more you think she looks better even she was not that great looking from the start.

I don't know about you, but i don't go out with girls that i get "used to"...

I also agree that the IX is still a great looking car, and i wish the X would have kept some of the flare on the fenders (like on the concept). But otherwise i think the car isn't that bad.

You mean the Concept X. The Prototype X and the actual X almost look identical. I agree that DTM/M3 style fender flares on the Concept X looks much better. The box style blister fenders on the Evo X looks less obvious than the Evo IX's making it look less aggressive.

They want to extend the potential market for the car, so its got suspension travel and probably fairly low spring rates. Most people don't like to get the cr*p beat out of them over expansion joints, frost heaves and potholes.

And it's not like it's that hard or expensive to fix the "wheel gap" problem if it offends you. I'm sure after market lowering springs and coilover offerings will be close on the heels of the release of the Evo X.

They will do anything to try to lessen the front wheel gap on that blue Evo X, . . .

up to even putting the rear end up higher on those blocks . . . .

Seriously, how hard/expensive can it be for you to buy a decent set of springs for the X (when they come out of course). Go find other things which aren't easily fixable to complain about...

I really am tired of everybody complaining about the bloody wheel gap!

I wish that was true, I think my IX is purposeful looking not beautiful.

The X looks like a Bulldog that some one kicked in the face. Almost beyond tolerance. It better be a great car, because it won't sell on looks.

The front end looks like it belongs on a Dodge truck, or a tundra.

It may look better in person, I hope.

But I still say the IX looks better.

My .02

Yeah, It does look like a bulldog from the front, but I like it. Looks are subjective.

Why does the red one have an ugly silver trim on the grill but the blue one is black?

I don't believe their potential new market is going to appreciate 4x4 wheel gaps on a sports sedan. They're targeting the guy who would consider a 3-series or C-class. Take a look at either of those cars and they have nicely tucked the wheels close to the fenders. Their new target market is not likely to be the type to buy springs or coilovers to change the look of their car. Getting the wheel gap more in line with the competitor's cars was an easy fix...and something the majority of Evo owners have mentioned as a problem on past generations...and they still overlooked it. I realize it's somewhat trivial, but come on...they had an opportunity to build a really great car and from the looks they've compromised in too many areas or overlooked to many details IMO.

Still want to drive it though

the EVO X reminds me of the STI. it would make a fun sporty DD but that's about it. especially with having an Al block (which btw a variant of it is in the new srt caliber). i hope they sleeved the block or u can count out modding it. also new owners will have issues modding w/the turbo in the back. ask a VW TDI guy how much a pita that is!!!!

i understand they want to cater to a broader audience since it seems they gave up on rally + mitsu automatically voids ur warranty if u join SCCA (Subaru encourages joining btw). of course all the cops in the world are looking for EVOs which u can't miss the shopping cart style wing on the back + some evo owners have Honda fartcans hanging out the back. tuners will make power on the motor but i can't figure out y they didn't make the driveline more solid b4 changing it AGAIN??? mitsu drivelines seem like they are made out of glass. maybe the transmissions are made in the same factories as IKEA stuff...hahahaha

How do you know if it's weak? The current driveline is just as strong as the motor. The only real weak point is the clutch and that was done on purpose to prevent damage to the rest of the drivetrain.
