Live shots of thr Evo X at Sydney!
Despite the fact the the STi looks ages better than the normal Impreza/WRX with new aggressive bumpers, wide fenders, better grill and etc, it still maintains and overall shape of an egg. And this is what ruins the car in my opinion. Too bad, as it could have been a good choice over the X because its lighter and will probably have a more powerful engine.
Mitsubishi wanted to attack the luxury market, and personally I don't know a guy or a girl that would choose the new evo over a 3-series, c-class, or A4. That being said Mitsubishi could have also put out something more aesthetically appealing, instead of an upside down Auto Union grill and finishing it off with the back of an SRT-4.
I'd gladly take that wide, cartoonish, egg, that embarasses 2-doors, 4-doors, and hauls cargo; to me that's the apeal of it. At least it's ugly with the surprise factor whereas the X is just downright ugly without an special "bragging" rights.
Yes, and it's not dumb it's called my opinion. The car that Mitsubishi has released looks like complete and utter crap. I have no biased because I own an IX, because honestly I'm not a diehard fanboy of any car.

just because they made the new lancer with better interior materials and slightly more upscale looks doesnt mean they are all of a sudden gunning for a 3 series or g35. they would need something a little bigger to do that

the new lancer is NOT a luxury car, it is a compact car that offers luxury features. would you call a civic ex-L with leather and a navi a luxury car? or a mazda3 with leather and navi??

Mitsubishi just wanted to appeal to a larger audience with the X, it couldn't do so with the IX or any other previous generations because it is way to raw and rugged and has a completely awful interior (compared to modern standards). The X therefore was designed to be a little less raw and have a much more luxurious interior, so it is now able to appeal to customers who have always liked the Evo's performance but still chose a 3-Series over it because of the comfort it gives.

I would chose any Evo over all of those heavy luxury boats. I care nothing for useless fluff meant for posers.

Red car is the MR: hence the 2 piece front rotors(hardcore), SST trans, BODY COLOR side vents on front fenders and chrome bits on the bulldog. $36-38K???
Blue Car GSR: One piece rotors, (5speed), BLACK side vents on fenders, no chrome/flat black bulldog face. ...the $30("ish") car
RS: No AYC, NO ABS or Stability ECU's ....NO word yet...?? $28,800??

Here in Houston and most other flat, boring, long freeway'd cities the AYC and stability control will only be noticed in the rain or a possible exit ramp. Light weight and being able to run the Vette next to you is whats important. If you live anywhere West of the continental divide or mountains in the East you will enjoy the new X's traits daily.

My girlfriend is far from fat, and I don't even know why I'm arguing this topic as its my opinion. That being said my next car will not be neither an Evo nor an STi; my evo ix is my last Mitsubishi in this life-time. The next car purchase will be an E92 M3 or Lotus Exige with the IX as a daily.
Well proportioned eh? It looks like someone took a hammer and hit the trunk causing the front nose to stick out, and the overhang is rediculous. I've never considered an SRT-4 w/ a stolen upside down Audi grill and a bunch of holes in the hood to be considered a "combination of good looking cars"
Well, it looks like an Audi from the front. An Acura TL from the side and a Lexus IS from the back. All three are very good looking cars and when put all together as a Evo X the result is a balanced streamlined and aggressive looking car. As for the STI it looks like snail. Nothing can be uglier than looking like mollusk.

In case nobody knows, the cars shown are not USDM but JDM-spec. This means that there is no MR amongst them.
Only the GSR and RS exist in Japan so far. The RS comes without Brembos, Recaros, AYC, rear wing, has black mirrors and door handles, 17" wheels and the 5 speed gearbox. The base GSR comes with the 5 speed M/T, Brembo brakes, Recaro seats, color-coded door handles and mirrors and 18" Enkeis. The "High Performance Package" adds Bilstein shocks with Eibach springs, 2-piece front rotors and stickier rubber. The "Stylish Exterior" pack adds body colored hood and fender vents together with chrome trim to the grille and side windows. The "Leather Combination Interior" pack adds, (obviously) partially leather covered Recaros and other leather interior bits. Last but not least, the "Premium Package" combines all of the optional packages together with BBS rims.
The TCSST gearbox can be added as an option to all of the packages and the base model GSR (but not the RS).
I hope this clears everything up about the JDM Evo X.

Yeah it flips up, the 08 lancers come with the same system, GPS,DVD (while driving), Maint Records, Music Hard Drive, Trip sheets,SIRIUS Radio, etc. Nice setup.
The Lancer can use it through the steering well but not sure if it's accessible for the X.
Pretty user friendly, this addition to the Lancer and the X alone makes the interior more comfortable.
