Don't forget about the guys (like me!) rolling in the Lancer GTS's! haha... I'd kill for an evo! Maybe when I get through this college stuff there will be a nice X waiting for me! Of course by that time it will be the "old" evo. haha

FYI a manufacture to develop a new motor with out cost sharing is roughly 50,000,000. USD thas the last number I had confirmed.

I don't necessarily think that the 2.0 wrc rules have much do with the reasoning. I mean I don't think mitsu is trying to run wrc anytime soon...

Look at Evo VII. Homologation is dead.

Homologation has nothing to do with the 2 ltr motor. It is a marketing thing, to make people think it is still a "rally car" you can buy. Conveniently they have access to a modern 2 ltr motor, the 4b11.

EDIT: not talking smack about X, it pertains just as much to my beloved IX. In fact, I been trying to convince my friend to trade in his SRT4 on an X so that I can try driving one

True homologation has issues but, rally is what made mitsubishi, and currently the top Grp. N cars are all evo's so there is still a reason to fallow fia rules and once the top level wrc cars go to either a modifies s2000 class or a modified Grp.N class then the 2.0L will reign supreme. I'd personally like to see the car go back to a 100IN wheel base and lose 500lbs. I don't need cruse or 12 airbags I am stripping them out any way. so there should be a gsr with all of the luxury and the MR with manual everything, no A/C no stupid 12 speaker stereo w/sub, and less sound dampening.

2.5l on sti doing 310 hp is more cost efective harder to get the hp out of a 2l and why would you want a motor that isnt tested like say evo and the rally car or i am sure the new x will be same engine . sti dosnt use the same engine as the rally team would

Let me premise this by saying that my sources cannot be reveled.

I got word from a corporate source that the 2009 Evo will be the last year for Evo brand. They will offer a special ralliart edition for 2010 (which will essentially be a 2010 Evo badged as a lancer ralliart special edition), but it will only be available with the dual clutch auto, no manual. I asked if sales were the cause, and the response I got was, "Bingo, we are trying to save a sinking ship". So, to all you guys who want a manual Evo, get yours in 09 or you'll be buying used.
