Evolution X GSR Premium Edition
The biggest question I would like to know... when is Mitsubishi going to come out with a SE Edition that carries over all the options of a MR but with the 5-speed Transmission. I was pissed when they did that for the EVO 9 and I had already brought the MR. If everyone ever gets scope on that, please post.
The car in the pics has the TC-SST found only on the EVO X MR here stateside.
So either...
a) it is only an option in Japan
b) A variation of it (one or two options, not all)
My money? Mistu doesn't make the BBS or leather recaros or anything else that seperates the gsr and MR (outside of transmission) and justifies the MR premium price available as an option for the cheaper priced GSR.
Mitstu is smart, and to get people to pony up for the MR is not only the transmission, but the leather recaros, BBS wheels etc.
It makes no sense for them to sell them as options to the GSR and in doing so, undercut every reason (outside of great transmission) to buy an MR. A lot of GSR fans would love it, but bottom like is that it just wouldn't make financial sense for Mitsubishi to give consumers reasons to 'steer clear' of their highest price car. They have got to give the MR something unique and upscale (other than transmission) to make it sell.
I would love to see those full leather seats come stateside for the 2009 MR!
(and make them heated! It gets cold up here in Boston!)

My concern is even if this does come in any form it's going to be expensive.
And to answer your second thought: It already is expensive: its called the MR. It is great and Mitsubishi wants you to buy it.
I doubt we will see this one in USA well not until 2010, they know that most of the buyer of the GRS will tune it and make it their own way..............my 2 cents
Because i think the MR's look a lot more like a real EVO to me! But i still like my GSR WW!

MR = GSR Premium w/ TC-SST
You can also get GSR Premium with 5 speed in Japan, and base GSR with TC-SST.
Anything that is available on 'MR' can be optional on base GSR such as:
- BBS wheels
- Eibach spring + Bilstein shock + 2 piece rotors
- Leather interior + scuff plate
- Upgraded sound system
Wingless or small wing is deletion option on GSR and GSR Premium, and of course you get some money back.
They could have just went on with one trim (GSR) and had the rest of the stuff as options, including the transmission, but I guess the 'MR' badge has too much marketing value to drop in North American markets and helped people to fork out 20% of the car's value for the upgrades when they would've hestitated if all of them were available as option at 10% of the car value.
