Dream Mitsu lineup for 2012 in the US
But then you're not asking for a Lancer Evolution. You're asking for a Colt Evolution. That would be making a completely different car and not considered an Evolution. I'd like to see lighter Evo too but what you're saying is not asking for evolution. It's just asking for something new.
Well looks like the line up for 2011 is something like this:
Lancer
Lancer Sportback
Lancer Ralliart
Lancer Sportback Ralliart
Lancer Evolution
Outlander
Outlander Sport (RVR)
Endeavor
Eclipse
Eclipse Spider
Colt
I and/or MiEV
Lancer

I had an Endeavor and loved it (for it's performance, decent MPG, and ride quality), but they need to let that one go (styling is weak and the interior sucked). Should replace that with the Montero Sport from Asia which looks way better and sportier (w/ a fuel-sipping turbodiesel powerplant).
Eclipse... as people suggested, use the 4B11T and AWD as the V6 trim alternative. Make it lighter, that V6 is way too heavy.

As for the Montero Sport, they could offer it as a semi-luxury level trim... the one in South East Asia also runs on turbo diesel technology and seats 7, it's about the same size as the new Toyota Highlander, but so much more fuel-efficient and sexier (I've seen it in person, including the Strada pickup)

this truck is not bad

As far as the 4g63, a lot of mitsu guys will always swear by them no matter how much the 4b11t proves itself. I just don't think it makes sense for Mitsubishi to push the envelope with a new AWD system and tranny yet hang on to an engine that's been around for years like some of these guys want.
Not disagreeing because producing two such drivetrain would probably net a large capital loss, but it was just an idea to throw out there.
