The latest news says that there will indeed be an Evo XI. This comes from the head of Mitsubishi after news had broken that there would be no more Evos. The internet and car mags are full of this story and it has been posted on this site as well: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/fu...d-picture.html

The Evo is essentially a halo car for Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi knows that it has an incredible fan base with the Evo and that loyalty is important to the company. Mitsubishi also is smart enough to know that people who buy an Evo may buy another Mitsubishi product as well. Why ruin a good thing?

As for the Hybrid, yes, the batteries are heavy. However, if the platform was lighter than the Evo X, the performance could be about the same with a major decrease in emissions and a major increase in fuel economy. Remember that all the automakers are under the gun to meet President Obama's initiative for higher fuel economy.

It looks like Mitsubishi is going the same route as Honda. This is why I am done with Honda. My Si is going to be sold this weekend. There is nothing that interests me in cars from Honda. The new Si is a total joke compared to the one I have. Let's hope that Mitsubishi will lighten the next platform for the Lancer while keeping the current Evo X engine with hybrid capability. That would be a win-win situation.

Ok keep dreaming guys. The hybrid evo is all speculation. Evo is dead. Heard it myself at mod. Eclipse is dead as well. I'm sure they will make another eventually, but. After 2013 model year. No more Evo. Don't get your hopes up

Sales guy @ Mitsu told me 2013 was the last year and that he wasn't sure what was going to replace it

I don't know if I would mind a hybrid. I know that electric would be power right there, but batteries would cause some weight issues..

Although its a good question and also you got good answers above but they all are only supposed. I don't think it is easy to calculate about the stop sale of any product.

I think I read in "road and track" that 2012 is the last year for the evo. Something about being eco friendly, or some hog-wash like that

One bonus is that the Evo is the Evo.

Most people don't call it by the full name of Lancer Evolution.

Meaning Mitsu can move the Evolution model over to the smaller and lighter Colt since the Lancer is going the way of the Taurus and getting huge.

Thumbs up for an AWD Colt, with the same 4B11T, and a 2800-3200lb chassis. That alone is worth a mileage bump and would still remain competitive without any hybrid tech.

I think they are coming up with Turbo Diesel!

I think hybrids are fast too... But how long until you drain your batteries! Can it last 24-48 hours into a rally race like the old models?? Unless they are solar cars GL finding a charging station through the course!
