I foresee the evo growing more GTR-like in its next iteration. Though weight will be up, power will likely be way up as well, and the diesel/hybrid combination has the potential to put down HUGE torque numbers. Some people complain about the lack of driver involvement with the GTR too, but few can deny that it is quite a capable machine.

Were still in the beginning stages of this whole electric car/hybrid thing. Its sort of like when EFI first came out, Im sure folks were saying the same thing about how much better their carburetors were. Anyhow, just look at what is being done. Mercedes just showed an SLS with awd, four electric motors, 1 to each wheel, to control power independantly to each wheel, and 740 hp. Not too shabby.

This new hybrid diesel evo seems interesting. With all that low end torque it would seem like agreat dd, and fun autox car. Id probably lease one as I would not want to own this new tech out of warranty though.

Hey, I'm an electric drives engineer. I have worked on all kinds of propulsion from LCI Synchronous drive/motors for ship propulsion to odd 5-phase PWM controlled induction motors, DC drive/motor (which is so simple, I'm not sure you can call it a drive... more like a front end) and cycloconverters... with sizes ranging from 500hp to 50,000hp.

My point is, this is not a new technology... its not even a new implementation!!! There are enough guys out there like me that can take whatever they make and give you some more Mods to make it even better!

They sure have some big shoes to fill with the X, but there is always room for improvement.

My wishlist

- More power/torque....at least 350HP/TQ please
- Better fuel economy 25-28 combined please
- Lower suspension and even better brakes
- Wider stock tires and more wheel options
- Bi-Xenon adaptive headlights with LED RDL
- Better paint quality damn it!!!
- Less plastic in interior and more upscale materials like aluminum, wood, leather, etc.
- More robust SST tranny or equivalent for more HP/TQ potential from stock
- Even more aggressive look, especially in rear end of vehicle.
- Height adjustable 8 ways seats and parascopic steering wheel
- Bring back the big wing or a bad-*** variant for MR- lip spoiler too whimpie!
- Fold down seats!
- Rackmount ready roof

That's a start! lol

Quite frankly if they retain the same robustness with less weight(new outlander for example is now 220 lbs easier(damn you americanos and your systems)), I'd be happy enough, and LOOKS, LOOKS have to be good as current gen, even better if they improve it, it is so decisive.
I am also happy that normal trims will get small turbo engines, 1.8Di-D engine in current EUspec Lancer makes car go really really well. As far as I understand Mitsubishi policy current gen Lancer here, will still be sold on some markets, so there won't be no shortages.
My guess is that "new" turbocharged engine will be inherited from the outgoing Mitsubishi Colt CZT codename: 4a91t (1.5l T 150ps), would be nice. Don't know if 4G15 is on aluminium block, but it was used in JDM CZT and Brabus Forfour and it sported 163-177hp.

I would hate a hybrid diesel EVO. I own a 335D right now and while it puts down crazy torque the power falls flat pretty quickly. There is only so much torque can do to keep you moving at a quick pace. Right now my 335D is putting down close to 500wtq and 301whp. The power band is not nearly as fun to abuse as my EVO IX.

It always does.

I don't get why people are so worry about no part to mock their cars. Parts will keep coming up after the appearance of a new model. It is non sense to compare the available parts for an old car to a new one. For sure the old car have more options and need more options.

err how did I skip this comment? Anyway GT-R year per year development compairing to EVO is totally opposite.
EVO X got off track in 2007 and remained mechanicly same till this day.
GT-R came off track in 2007 as 480hp machine and today its 545hp and its being improved in every possible way so it can a) keep sales, b) be up with competition.
EVO's are in this cases Soviet Lada's compairing to German BMW's, EVO like Soviet Lada is "perfect" from beginning and needs no updates, while BMW from same time gets updated year per year. Saddest thing is that Mitsubishi could've made EVO X 10 times better if it only had minor adjusts in some time. Now it has to make giant leap to be competitive with wannabe's in its class(A45 AMG for example).
