Evo XI to be delayed???
This is kind of what I have been saying, that the new Evo won't be in production for a few more years, if at all. Take it with a grain of salt but this was posted on rawevo.com:
http://rawevo.com/evo-x/news/mitsubi...ys-new-evo-xi/
The wait for a successor to the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X may be a tad longer than originally expected, as Mitsubishi focuses its resources on its strengths such as SUVs and electrified vehicles. That’s the claim of the automaker’s product chief, Ryugo Nakao, who spoke recently with Motoring.
Nakao explained that future Mitsubishis, including sports models like the Evo, need to meet tough new fuel economy standards like CAFE. That means that the next Evo would need to adopt an alternative drivetrain, he revealed, but one that is still sporty; something Mitsubishi simply doesn’t have on the shelf.
“When the right timing comes, when we have the right technology… we would consider that in future,” Nakao is quoted as saying. “At this moment, we have to concentrate on SUV, PHEV and EV.”
Mitsubishi is about to embark on a platform-sharing deal with Renault Nissan to aid development of a range of new models including the next Lancer, but none of these shared platforms will be used for a new Evo. Nakao said any sports car from Mitsubishi would have to be developed alone.
His comments tie in with previous reports that suggested Mitsubishi’s next Evo would use a bespoke platform as well as some kind of hybrid drivetrain. Unfortunately, a lack of resources to develop the new platform and drivetrain means Mitsubishi’s priorities lie elsewhere.
Some of those priorities are likely to include a new Montero SUV (a Pajero for overseas readers), a new Outlander Sport and more electric cars. Just these kind of vehicles were shown in concept form at the recent 2013 Tokyo Motor Show.

My wild dream would be if Evo production and further development got into the hands and license to MHI(Mitsubishi Heavy Industries) rather than to MMC(Mitsubishi Motors Company). The first mentioned do not joke about their products, and do not regard customers as sheeps that will buy into anything. Sadly we're going to watch Subaru years and those hideous cheap spawns they create...
As much as we love Evo's we have to understand they will have more strict guidelines on the amount of emissions they put out. Yes the technology is there, but then i'm assuming the price of an Evo would be relatively high, possibly meaning it would not sell as well as the previous Evo's. Just a thought. I could be wrong but it's very logical thinking.

my parts dealer told me that they are more focusing on rolling out the new Montero for now, not quite changing the evo yet. The Evo is like Mitsubishi's version of Nissan's GTR thinking. It's what everyone talks about, but hardly makes them money. Similar with Mercedes AMG lineup.
