down payment - 05 evo MR
down payment - 05 evo MR
I just put a down payment on the first evo MR that comes into my local dealership here in michigan. booya. hope they come in soon. im very excited and am glad i waited a year instead of jumping on the 03 band wagon, not that thats bad. any thoughts?
Your six speed, limited slip front diff, and improved turbo are super upgrades.. enjoy... hope it arrives before summer cruisin' is over. My "03" is up on blocks undergoing mods. Some of us sold cars to move into our Evos and waiting is costly.
'03 "bandwagon"?! I've been waiting for this car for over 5 years so I don't see how its bandwagon. besides, its not like we knew whether or not there would even be more than one production run. I've noticed a trend in bashing the '03 evos, esp by future MR owners. we're all family!!!

I say you wait. Take your deposit back. Why? I understand that you are eager to get your MR EVO, but look at what the early, 03 EVO owners have to pay. Most pay over MSRP and if lucky, MSRP. Comparing that to the late buyers, and it makes the early buyers wanted to shoot themself in the leg. Well, I dunno how some of the die hard fan of the EVO feel, but I know I feel like I wanted to shoot myself in the leg for real. I know of several owners around my area paid 28.5K drive out!!! All I had to wait was 3 or 4 months and I could have saved 3K or 4K just like that. So the moral of the story is, wait!!!!!!!!!!!!! And be very very very patienced, especially when it comes to buying limited production sport cars like the EVO. And look at the resale value of the 03 EVO, I think that will directly effect the resale value of many future EVOs. Maybe the MR will be special, but it will most lightly be in the same category as the regular EVO regarding resale value. As much as resale value distance itself from the pricing of a new EVO, I think the resale value can directly influence on how much you can talk down on the price when you buy a brand new one. Also waiting will also help you see if the MR has any major bugs. Im sure it'll be ok, but again, it's the first version of the its kind. I can bet you 1 million bucks that the MR will be on sale at invoice near the end of the year. Good luck
lol... stock mr vs modded evo... i wonder who will win...its not like the mr is insane. you get a couple more hp and some other nice features, while just like any other evo...a couple mods and you have way more power. cool u have a cooler stock turbo, but an upgraded larger unit will do way better than 5 or 10hp. a front diff is nice, but hey, the people breaking records arent using MR's and prob wont be, they will be using evo's. i hope u dont get the weirdo piece that goes above the rear window...thats butt ugly...looks like 10 other outlets for an antennae. good luck though, the blacked out tail lights and headlights will definately be worth waiting til 05 LOL

And for a little bit more $$, the soon-to-be-modded MR will be raping everything.

.2 sec behind the regular 03 (needless to say that the 4th gear for the MR is a bit shorter than the regular 5 speed model)
I also have a deposit on an MR. I have a modded '03 right now. I plan to mod the MR also, as it should yeild better power figures than the '03-04. I know that the rest of the '05's will have a front LSD. One of the main reasons I bought an Evo was to have a limited production, rally inspired daily driver. Now the MR is coming, which means the numbers on Evo's really aren't that limited. I am severly disappointed in Mits, it seems that there will be no end to the "new" Evo. Which only hurts our resale value, the MR, since it is truly a limited production car, may have a better resale. The only bump in the road being that it's a MIts.
Back on topic, the MR looks to be a great car, and for me it's all about handling abilities, since I road race and autocross. The MR looks to be a superior vehicle over the rest of the Evo's so I knnow I'll like it. Plus, it will be nice to have a car with a little more creature comforts, hopefully even cruise control, I doubt it though. Look at it this way, you're already spending 30k, spend a few more and get a better, nicer vehicle.
Just my .02.
