Saw an MR in person today
Driving down Woodward in Ferndale, MI. How do I know it's not a fake? Well, it was silver, had the USDM MR badging, and had California Distributor plates (which means it's owned by a car company). No surprises, the car had a vortex generator and gunmetal wheels. Sweet exhaust note, you can totally hear the turbo much better than on a stock Evo. You MR owners are going to be very happy...
I wonder what it's doing in Michigan? All the car magazines are based here so perhaps a road test? The driver definitely looked like he was set for a night on the town, with his stereo turned up full blast. Anyone else see a USDM MR on the roads yet?

I fugure after my car is paid off, THe latest and greatest evo will be out which most likely be better than the MR. Thats what I will be getting. For example look at the current corvete zo6. 400hp FOR THE CAR. the next gen corvete will be getting 400hp, this is not the zo6. I believe the mr will be the next generation powerplant for the next regular evo 9,10,11, or whatever it is. Just be happy you have a evo at all. peaCE........
Does the MR get anything special in the powerplant vs. the other 05 Evos? I think that other than the 6-spseed, the MR has the same motor as the other 05s. They all get the bigger turbo outlet, ACD, etc.

Seeing how Mitsubishi is on a shoestring budget, and that selling a couple thousand Evos stateside is not going to give them the BILLIONS of dollars they need to pull themselves out of their current predicament, we should be happy that we're getting anything at all. It's hard to believe that some people are so egocentric as to believe that the Evo is the key to the future of Mitsubishi, and how seat fabrics and exterior lighting are the panacea to their woes.
Judging from Finbarr O'Neill's track record at Hyundai, he's going to improve the warranty while reducing the price of the cars. In other words, in the next few years I think we'll see Mitsu move decidedly towards the 'value' end of the spectrum where Kia and Hyundai currently sit because with their current product lineup it would be ridiculous to expect them to compete with Honda and Toyota. The fact that some cars are being improved at the 30K+ end at today's Mitsubishi is pretty amazing as it is.

^^^good post. who f*cking cares if they call it the "MR" or "MR Edition"? the performance upgrades are the same. i'd love the cosmetic items too but the lack of them won't dissuade me from buying an MR....edition.

Sayc
Just be careful what you wish for.
S AYC will just wear down your Yokohamas quicker, yeah granted it will increase cornering ability, but with every advantage there is a disadvantage.
Cause when the US finally gets S AYC that is all you will hear about is "my tyres only lasted for 5000 miles, what is up with that"
GROW UP, you should all know that the EVO is high maintenance by now.
There is no end to the complaining.
Quit moaning like little girls, maybe you should go top up your nail polish or something.

By the way, every vehicle in the world understeers. Some just have a transition to neutral/oversteer, and some transition earlier than others!
