www.bestbuy.com ....all the same price
UK Xbox GBP $300.00
so again....45,000 pounds still equates to around 1.8 or so more in us dollars.... $70-$80k in US dollars for that car no matter if its in cars or video games....lol

maybe the market is different....but when the only magazine that was allowed to test it and write about the car currently says its going to be GBP $45000. and the currency converter says that equals $80+k US ....i would assume either way i could spend half that and have a 11 second evo.....oh wait ....i do

Are you sure you calculated correctly?
I was referring to the US and UK launch prices of the original XBox
Based on yr reasoning, if the XBox was selling for GBP299 at launch, that would mean the XBox would be retailing at over US$540 in the US at the launch
Obviously that wasn't the case.

But there are those who would still buy it because it is a Limited Edition and the 3 years guarantee backed by Mits UK.
But you are gonna find that other cars (not just Mits) are equally overpriced with respect to the US versions. Its one of the major gripes
It's very difficult to estimate how much a certain item would sell for here in the United States, I believe other factors also contribute to the extremely expensive prices for cars in the UK. Would it sell for $80k in the USA, that is highly unlikely, and Mitsubishi wouldn't even waste their time. $45K is also to cheap and it is not always a direct to direct value, if that were the case, then the 350Z convertable prices would start at $26K, sounds great, but bot realistic. $50K to $60K seems more reasonable, but I doubt that the USA will ever see this car, so it is all speculation. Still even at $50k, the price seems high, because it really doesn't take anywhere near $20K to achieve similiar or even better numbers. With $10 to 15K your GSR could be pushing 500HP (Flywheel) or more. Still for some reason and this often is the case, if i had the money I wouldn't hesitate one second buying the EVO FQ400 over the EVO GSR. Most people with $60K to spend on car, who want an EVO, are going to buy the higher version, that's just just how things work. Is the Porsche 911 GT2 really $70K-$80K better than the Base Porsche 911 Turbo, nope, but still if I had the money I'd buy a GT2 over the base in a second.
The fact that in the UK car prices are extortionate, is that we get taxed out of existence on all things....especially motoring. Just look at our petrol prices (gas)...we have someting like a 400% markup for tax alone. The evo is available from japan at something like the equivalent of £14,000....now as soon as it hits UK shores, VAT @ 17.5% and import duty are slapped on...you then have SVA, underseal and registration etc, which takes the price up a little, but if our government wasn't such a bunch of ****'s then we could probably get the same car for £10k less.
Now the FQ400 should in theory cost you in the US $80,000, if it's a direct converstion from sterling to dollars, but it seems that you guys aren't taxed nearly as much, and so, get most of your cars cheaper....with the exception of skylines, which we can pick up for little money

All this conversion factor asside, you have to take into consideration income levels.
If people are making the same #'s in £'s as we are making in $'s then the conversion would be moot.
But something like that can be tough to gauge since different area's would have different median incomes.
Just some food for thought,
