Question UTEC took a dump on me

Well I am assuming the UTEC didnt load properly today when I left from work. The rpms were stead about 1500rpms and even at normal operating engine temps the rpms did not drop. Anyway, I went to boost and POP. Again POP. I was at a red light and decided to turn the car off and back on again. Well that solved the idle issue but then I noticed the darn CEL light was on. Had to do a battery disconnect and all seems well thus far. Any of you have an explanation for what may have happened?

And my drivetrain seems to be a little more aggravated to with my cams.

You shouldn't have cleared the code, it probably would have some insight to what happened.

Hmm.. I've had that happen when my MAF sensor had trouble.. the MAF reading was way off, idle was high, and when I tried to accelerate it was sluggish and would misfire..

Back up your maps and config, take the UTEC out, and bench flash it with the battery.. put it back in, set it to MAP0 and let the ECU relearn idle for about 25 minutes, then drive the car around a bit.. Reload and then use one of your maps and see if the problem ever comes back..

Well i didnt go into all that Jack. I was pressed for time and taking all that out seems a bit tiring but if it happens again I will do it. As far as leaving the code in, I have no way of finding out what the code is without a scanner. I dont know anyone that has one or at least wont charge me to use it. I let the car idle with map 1 on the old firmware and it seems to be fine. I took the car back out at WOT and no problems yet. This is like a freak of nature but I did have my oil changed yesterday and I personally gently drop the hood then use my hand pressure to lock it in place. They just dropped it yesterday so I wonder if it was just a matter of time for the MAF to get screwed up.

Crap. It did it again. This time I turned the UTEC back to map 0 since its now bypassed back to stock ecu and disconnect battery. This all seems to be haapenening since I swapped to 272 cams. ANyway, I'll keep you all posted. If it happens a 3rd time then I will get the codes and share them with everyone.

Actually with the new cams, the idle speed may be too low, so airflow may be stalling due to extremely low vacuum, when that happens the engine RPM jumps.. I didn't think of that earlier.. you may have to somehow raise your idle with the BISS adjustment and fiddling with the throttle cable a little.. I suspect idle below 1000rpm on a cammed car may not provide enough steady vacuum to draw air through the sensor.

thanks, That would make sense. and may also explain why it pushes the rpms up.

well I am good now. Come to find out that part of the problem was possibly due to the fact that the MAS was falling off the turbo inlet pipe. It was barely hanging on. As far as acceleration, I woudl nt say its sluggish. TT tuned me last weekend and teh car pulls like a beast. You may have a boost leak somewhere. The car will feel sluggish if you cant build boost quickly.
