Malibu,

It works like a charm. I use it with no problems.

Actually, that's in there now but it's hidden because it doesn't work very well. It seems that the UTEC doesn't sample the data at regular intervals. Although it produces a record every .2 seconds, the samples aren't taken exactly .2 seconds apart. You get 2 records pretty close together, then the next record has a gap before it, etc. At least this is what I'm seeing in my data. You can even see this if you look at the logs during acceleration, where the RPM's should be increasing regularly, but it's sporatic. Like there might be 100 RPM between samples, then 200 RPM before the next sample, then 80 before the next one. Unfortunately the only algorithm I know of to calculate HP & torque from this data would require regularly-spaced samples...

Not at this point. I started to implement it but it's not really a priority for me because I have an Evo.

For the cell showing its been modified, I'd use the grid outline (grid select) color and use a different color for the borders of the modified cells (if your grid control can do it.. Otherwise I used the "Note tag" feature on the MS grid control that would show a small red "triangle or dog-ear" in the upper left corner of the cell.
Interesting. I was thinking of letting the user specify ranges of colors to use for the cell background for values below zero, above zero and zero/ECU. But then it starts getting complicated with so many options. Maybe if I can't get this to work well, I'll try something more automatic like you did.

Actually I'm not sure what that problem was. When I upgraded to 1.7, I was expecting it to fail since you were having problems, and I planned on fixing it ASAP, but it worked for me. If you're still having problems, I added some debugging options in V3 so it can capture the serial data to a file that you could send me, so I can see what's happening. I haven't heard any other complaints of upload/download not working. Is it possible that the 1.7 that you were using was a beta version, and had "BETA" or something in the screens?

I probably will add a dashboard at some point, maybe over the winter. I need to take a look at your app to see what one is supposed to look like.

Actually the samples are exactly .2 seconds apart.. If you use the log with the timestamp on it you can see..

The trick is to sample 3 seconds of data at a time if you want a "Rolling" sample of value.. HOWEVER the sample rate is too low to give HP readings in real time. If you plot a graph you'll see it works pretty well. Plus, if you need regularly spaced samples you can "Upsample" the values by getting the average between two samples.. If your trying to get data by using data with less than 5 samples you will get very jumpy results.. you'll need to use a rolling smoothing algorithm in that case.

I have a feeling your probably right about the upload/download of the firmware.. I was running a v1.5 beta which might have had some differences... I haven't tried it since I reflashed with the new version..

The download always worked, but the upload would tend to time out.

I would be happy for you to beat me in a drag race at anytime, as log as you update your great tool to support the WRX

Reading over 100% is just fine, reading under would be an issue. On my car it's either 99 or 104.

Thanks

The trick is to sample 3 seconds of data at a time if you want a "Rolling" sample of value.. HOWEVER the sample rate is too low to give HP readings in real time. If you plot a graph you'll see it works pretty well. Plus, if you need regularly spaced samples you can "Upsample" the values by getting the average between two samples.. If your trying to get data by using data with less than 5 samples you will get very jumpy results.. you'll need to use a rolling smoothing algorithm in that case.
Mine are not .2 seconds apart. When I plot the graph, it ends up looking like a zigzag line. I tried a few different methods of averaging the data points, but haven't had any luck yet.

Oh, so if I add WRX support, you'll LET me win? I think that may have offended me.

Could you post a similar set of logs, but using the comma-separated format?

Also, could you try UCC and see if the map upload/download works on the WRX? I believe the map format is the same, but I'm not sure if the screens are similar enough.

I've been using the UCC rel3 since I had my UTEC an dit's been working great! But all in a sudden, it starts to give me CHECKSUM ERROR for whatever map file I open. Even I created a new file from UCC and save it, I can't re-open it after I close it.

I tried to uninstall it and re-install from scatch and it does the same to me.

BigBoogieman, have you seen anything like that? Or is there a work around to fix teh Checksum Error problem? I can't even open the file that I download from my own UTEC now. And I don't want to be stuck with the HyperTerminal...

Thanks in advance for any advice!

When I get this error, I disconnect, shut down the car and restart. Then it works.
