Experience Mapper Needed..

Hello,
I drive an Evo 7(GSR) in Ireland. So far I have added a 4 branch SS header, turbo outlet(3'), downpipe(3'), de-cat(3'), cat back(3') FQ340 exhaust system and HKS air filter. It goes very well.

What I want to know is this: Is there anyone that would sell me an ECU (Apex-i) and map it for my car before sending it to me or even if I buy the ECU and send it to them to map for me without the having my car to map it in? I realise that a rolling road is pretty much essential but there is no one in Ireland who is willing to take on the job and there is no one capable of tuning an Apex-i here anyway. I want a good safe map that will run safely on 92-95 octane all the time while still giving me a good power gain.

If anyone could tell me what kind of power to expect considering what I have done so far and that its on stock internals, just to see in the gains outweigh the cost. As far as having to tinker with the brain all the time depending on weather and ****, that wont put me off, I've built a few evo engines now, I like tinkering!

Any help would be much appreciated,
Thank you

Hi sorry not a pro mapper just a fellow evo owner wanting to ask something !

I have a Evo VIII FQ300 04 plate and have fitted blitz filter and cat by pass and am also looking for something to sort the air fuel following having the fuel cut come in a couple of times which was a bit of a shock.

Does this happen to yours, as you have quite a few mods ?

Also have you asked Norris Designs as the sell the Apexi and they might sort something for you.

Hey,
Yes I have heard of similar problems even on evo 6's so it would seem normal enough. The fuel cut comes I believe as the boost raises itself when u fit a filter and exhausts pieces beyond the boost limit. But I have to say that it only happened me once and that was when I removed the filter altogether on a cold day to test something and I ran my car with a HKS filter for a life time. strange. maybe the petrol is worse here in Ireland.
I have since bought an Apexi ecu and have to say its quite good but it seems now that I would need a better fuel pump and even injectors and decent (100 octane) fuel to take full advantage of it. So dont be thinking that big horse power is achieved cheaply. Mind you the Apexi is great, it improved response and feel alot.
I was looking at the Noris site and it seemed very pricey and I would not be able to take the car to them to have it mapped as I live in Ireland so it would be a waste for me although it mite suit you better, I found a brand new one on Ebay with commandor for half nothing.
Anyways sure let me know how you get on. good luck

Is there any reason you are going with APEXi not any other engine managment?

Give Mohammad an email at mzmperformance.com

He's an authorized dealer and tuner for APEXi. They are located in Austin, Texas and have dealt with a number of overseas cars.

The Power FC runs some of the fastest EVOs in the world and you can find them for the price of a piggy back if you do a little research. Of course, as with all EMS, it is only as good as the tuner. However, there are some very serious PFC tuners in the UK.

The fastest is not always the answer. Tuning something like this will never hit the spot from the first tune. As an advice I would recommend finding a system that someone can tune it for you on regular bases if needed for any reason (including adding a part and taking apart out) Can you imagine all the hassle that you are going to go through just to send it out every time you add a part? Either look for a system that you can teach yourself how to tune it or try to find someone local that tunes many of the other engine management, just a thought and good luck.
