Ok, To tell you the truth i bought it for something to tune that will make it faster. I know you can adjust fuel. other then that i have no dag on idea what it does. Yes ive read what it does with the knock sensor and all the %'s and blah blah. If some1 has some time to teach me what i bought in a more meaningfull way that would be cool. Sorry for my stupidity but hey i wanna learn!

Man, you've gotta get that puppy tuned properly. If you are anywhere close to Dyno4mance (www.dyno4mance.com), Andrew can tune it for you very safely and you could make some good power. Also, Seth (Noize) is supposed to be very good with the SAFC. Anyways, don't just use somebody's settings because they're not likely at all to be good for your car. At best you'll get a little improvement on performance or none at all. At worst you could easily blow up your engine....... Oh yeah, "road tunes" are not so good IMHO. Go to a good dyno and a good tuner. Otherwise you're taking chances......

I learned how to go through the SAFC pretty quick. I had never touched one before and I was able to program some settings in and get the display where I like it in about 30 minutes. I found little help in the manual. Most of what I learned was from going through all the menus. I'm currently using the Buschur Stage1 settings (on my Stage1 eqiv. modded car), and the walk-thru that came with my SAFC from them was a lot of help.

Like SilverEVO said, you should definitely get it tuned properly.

Get tuned by a professional, not worth the risk for a first timer.

So i shouldn't just put numbers in from others or like the normal settings off a fourm in here. IO wanted to wait untill i get my cams and gears and everything i want to get and have it dynoed n tuned in spring? The closest dyno in bout 45 mins away and i dont even want to do business with they they are *******s. so im looking at machv bout 2 hours away.

Installing it and fooling around with the settings is a piece of cake once you figure it out. The actual manipulation of settings is very simple and straightforward. The trick is how much adjustment to make and when..... This is the real art to the thing and it's impossible to do without knowledge that takes a long time to acquire.

Before you can make confident, apprpriate and safe adjustments you have to have a clear and solid, hands-on understanding of fuel injection, forced induction and engine function. I mean you "really" have to know how the engine works. Another thing, you gotta have appropriate tools and instruments. You need to know what the A/F ratios are as the engine runs under load, you gotta know if it's knocking and when, plus you need to know whether you are making more power or not......

Properly tuning an engine, specially with piggy back units or stand alone EMSs is not for the amateur or tuner wannabee. There are lots of horror stories of ppl totally scrtewing up their cars or other ppls cars. As a matter of fact, you cannot even trust ppl who advertise themselves as tuners and experts. Talk is cheap for the bull sh!tter but very expensive for the victim. Just look at the saga of Busted Solutions, George Malinov and all the ppl he screwed

So no1s ever been sucessfull with doing it there selves? I just need to put the numbers in to tune it. theres no numbers i could put in for like stock settings or for exhaust at the least? I want to do it tommorw (monday) i do not know what settings. So what people are telling me is not to max out and put crazy settings. Whats something safe but a little better then stock? Theres got to be something decent, then when i get my other mods and its dyno time have the pros do the magic. But if you guys are really serious that it is like a 50/50 chance or messing somethin bad up then i will wait. Thanks guys

Sure, lots of ppl are successful at installing it themselves and entering whatever settings they think will work or whatever settings they got from somebody. Whether these settings will work or blow up your engine is something different..... What you don't seem to want to believe is that there are no magic numbers that are guaranteed to work with your car until the SAFC is tuned in that specific car. You can do whatever you like, but my experience and my honest opinion is not to do it half-assed. YMMV, etc, etc.

That's OK. if you hook it up and don't enter any settings, it's just like stock, no problems. I only want to help you to avoid costly mistakes. Install it yourself, that's easy and no problem. Just be sure the tuning is done right. It's worth every penny
