Anyone running the UTEC with the Buschur alcohol injection?

Just wanted to know if any UTEC users are running the BR alcohol injection kit? If so please give your impressions. I plan on going this route and the 20 G when it becomes available.

Actually thats one of the items I'm ordering with the 20G and other parts that I'm sending buschur when they officially announce the 20g's availability.

I have a similar water injection kit.. It has no dependency on your engine management since it has its own sensor and whatnot.. However the kit is out of my malibu so its going back there when I get the buschur kit.. But the only thing I did unique on mine was if the "Fault light" would come on, it opened a relay that interrupted the boost control solenoid so the car won't get any boost over 16psi..

Do you plan on using your relay trick when you get the BR setup. BTW Is Jack going to come out and play tonight? It's the first warm night in a while! I will be around.

LOL yeah I'll be at Duncan Donuts around 9pm tonight..

And yes, if the BR setup has a fault light that works correctly and doesn't "Come on" when its idle or not in use, then I'll use the same trick.

The Buschur Alky kit has its own spray controller.. there's no real dependency on anything from your engine management system..

If its enabled, it comes on at your set boost level, and increases in volume until it hits the max you set..

In my case, my car doesn't complain when you interrupt the boost control solenoid circuit because the signal is intercepted by the UTEC, so the relay mod works to kill boost if the level or fault light were to come on (On an aquamist or other system based on that controller)

Here is a list of my mods:

Buschur alcohol kit
Helix O2 housing, down pipe
3" cat
Fujitsubo catback
Tomei Poncam cams (these are very mild, Mark called them stock. )
Helix ic pipes
utec tuned at Turbotrix

Map1 (alky off) makes 296hp
Map2 (94 octane + alky) makes 331hp

Not to take anything away from your car, but those numbers sound a little low. Maybe it is those cams. My car with similiar mods except HKS cams 264/272 on the same dyno made 328hp and 321 lbs without the alcohol kit. My car had stock IC pipes and stock O2 sensor. I saw many other EVO's with similiar mods making about the same power. The high flow cat is also costing you about 12-15HP. I tested this. Again I am not trying to take anything away from you just letting you know that you may be lossing power somewhere.

I think a test pipe and more aggressive cams would make a big difference. Also, my Fujitsubo catback has 2 resonators, contributing to less power gain. I am aware of these facts. But, I have two babies that are always in the car, so, noise and pollution are a concern to me.

If I were to do it over, I would probably opt for Hks 264/272.

Well then, if you have two babies, i'd suggest the stock cat. The fujitsubo is a very nice exhaust choice if you like quietness. Nice setup. Hks cams would probably help a lot more though.

FWIW My experience with the Catco 3" catalytic converter was a difference of around 5whp.. Not enough of a difference to justify me not running it after doing my testing.

I totally understand the wife and kids factor. I had switch th the magnaflow for the same reason. As far as the high flow cat is concerned. I had my car on the dyno with and without the cat and no other changes and if I remember correctly is was somewhere around 12-15 HP. I was shocked.

I'd generally agree with that number, I think other mods and tuning make a difference since I did have to alter my tuning slightly for with/without catalytic converter.. I do honestly believe in keeping the cat for emissions reasons (not legal BS, but legitimate environmental awareness) and in the real world testing (on the track) it made absolutely no difference in my car's track performance, therefore the performance hit can't be much more than 5-6whp (the typical number you'd guess when you can't see any differences except for weather/driver)
